Summary

The article "How to Be a Perfect Human" advocates for conformity and risk-aversion, suggesting that individuals should abandon their dreams, adhere strictly to societal norms, and accept their social status as predetermined by birth.

Abstract

The satirical piece titled "How to Be a Perfect Human" presents a cynical guide to life, emphasizing the futility of dreaming and the importance of conforming to parental expectations and societal rules. It posits that individual aspirations are childish fantasies incompatible with the harsh realities of the world. The author argues that one's primary duty is to fulfill the roles prescribed by their upbringing and social position, rather than striving for personal fulfillment or challenging the status quo. The text suggests that adherence to rules and the suppression of personal opinions are paramount, and that one's socioeconomic status at birth is an immutable determinant of their life's trajectory.

Opinions

  • Dreams and ambitions are deemed impractical and should be relinquished in favor of a pre-determined, risk-free life path.
  • Parental approval and societal expectations should dictate one's career choices and personal goals.
  • Strict adherence to laws and rules is non-negotiable, even when it may be detrimental to oneself or one's family.
  • Individual opinions are considered inconsequential and dissent is discouraged, as there are already established societal norms.
  • Social mobility is viewed as a matter of luck rather than effort, with the belief that one's birth circumstances irreversibly define their life and opportunities.
  • The article promotes the idea of complacency and acceptance of one's perceived societal role, likening individuals to ants working for the benefit of those deemed more important by birthright.

We all eared the concept of the rat race or being a sheep against wolves. I am going to teach you how to apply that into your life, how to be like a perfect little ant. The secret of the simple, well defined life in the crowd. There is no point being the wolf or going against the current. It is too hard, we are not made to work as hard as possible for something that might never come. We shouldn’t take any risks in our lives, we are meant to stay in our couches watching Netfix with our little family.

1 — Kill your dreams

If you still have some dreams you are already on the wrong path. You should have given them up a long time ago. Only children still believe in the “you can be whatever you want in life”. Those thoughts are not made for the real world, the risks of failure are way too hard to go in a fantasy path like making your dreams come true. Face the reality, it will never happen.

2 — Make your parents proud

Be the perfect kid, always making your parents proud of you. The only important thing is doing what they want from you. If they want you to be a layer or an engineer, you don’t have any other choice. The same goes for your future kids, this is the only way they should be raised.

3 — Follow the rules

We are in a world made of rules and laws, they are here for a reason, so follow them as much as you possibly can. Even if you and your family get hurt in the process, it doesn’t matter, it is more important to be a good citizen. People voted to make those rules so there is no point going against them, they are in your best interest.

Don’t let your kids think they can break any laws either, they could get out of your control and it will become way too hard for you to keep them for yourself. The rules in your house are as important as the laws of the country, your children don’t have any right to contradict them.

4 — Your opinion doesn’t matter

It is not worth it anyway, there is people that have already figured it all out for us. Why should we fight for something we don’t have any control over ? It takes too much effort and energy for nothing. Nobody is going to listen to us, our only voice isn’t loud enough.

5 — Where you are born defines you

If you are born poor you are going to be poor all your life. There is absolutely no way around it. Your place is the one you had from the beginning and it is the only one you will ever have. Only luck is involved in your social status. Some people are born to be important, others like you and I are made to work for superior humans. We could never be at the same level as they are because of our birthrights.

Don’t make anything for yourself and most importantly, be sure to tell everybody that their opinion isn’t worth sharing. Your most important job as a parent is to make your kids be as complacent as you are. We are only little ants, our only purpose in life is to work for other people that are born luckier than us. They are the ones meat to rule the world, we are not.
