How To Add A Kicker To Your Story
The little thing above the title
When Benny Lim asked writers to Help Me To Help You, I thought I’d better figure out how to do a kicker, because he’s asking us to send stuff that’s properly formatted and ready to go.
A kicker is the little word above the title. It gives your story a category. For this story, I’ve created a kicker: ‘MEDIUM’.
I have no idea whether it improves ranking on searches, but it seems to be good practice and convention to use them in publications.
You can add a kicker to your story by pressing return on your title. This will mess it up, but that’s temporary. Above the title, type your kicker, then highlight those words and select small T.
This will create a kicker and your title returns to normal.
