How To Achieve Success: A System.
You want success, this may be a bold assumption from a complete stranger but you know it’s true. If you feel like success will happen to you when you get a big break, you are wrong, sadly, there is no “big break.”
The Idea Of Going Viral.
Success is not one giant leap, it is not going viral overnight, most of the people who become viral, fail very quickly. Going viral is the equivalent of winning the lottery, and unfortunately, most lottery winners lose all their money.
Most people will tell you that you will get big someday, that if you are a musician, a song will go viral and overnight you will be at a studio working with Justin Bieber on your new album.
Success doesn’t work like that.
Media has always portrayed the idea of a big break, you can see it on T.V shows such as Friends, Joey, who is an actor who eats all day, and in one episode Monica asks if he wants to go to beginners acting class to feel good, he could not answer a simple question. Yet Joey was a part of a hit show. The same is shown with Spiderman, a nerd gets bitten by a spider, gains superpowers and wakes up the next morning with six-pack abs.
We are responsible for accepting this idea of success. If our basic idea of success is wrong, then, can we achieve success?
Let Me Tell You A Story.
In ancient India, there was a king, he was a great chess player, he never was beaten and he decided to put out an open challenge, whoever beat him could get whatever they asked, including his huge kingdom. Many people lost, finally, a sage decided to challenge him, they played for three-days and the sage finally beat the king.
The king asked the sage what he wanted, the sage said that he should put a grain of rice, in every hut and room of the kingdom. There was a catch, in the first room, the king had to put one grain of rice, in the second room, he had to put two grains of rice, the grains of rice had to be doubled as they were put in each room.
By the end of this ordeal, the king had run out of rice in his kingdom and all the rooms were full!
When It Rains It Pours.
Success is like the grain of rice stated above. At first, it is small, no one notices any changes, after six months, still no changes, after a year, you may see some changes, after two years you will see big changes.
The irony is that all the people who questioned you will come back to you looking for a quick fix to their problems.
Success depends on how much effort you put in each day.
Allow Me To Help You.
This would not be a good article if it did not help you in some sort of way and if it did not provide any value to its readers, so, here are a few ways that I can help you.
If you want to become healthy, stop eating one sauce that you would have daily or cut down on one cup of vanilla latte from Starbucks which is 250 calories and decide to run for twenty minutes each day. I have been able to maintain my health during the pandemic by not eating mayonnaise, it does not sound like much, but I have noticed that my weight has been maintained by doing this simple practice. The reason I ask you to run is so that you can boost the process and lose weight quicker.
If you want to read a good book every day, start by reading fifteen pages a day, I used to get distracted while reading so fifteen pages were short enough for me to focus, but it was enough to learn. You can make time to read fifteen pages a day.
I have experimented with these two tips, I have used them on my friends and I have found that they work on most people.
The Cheat Code.
You know that quality is better than quantity, what if I told you that quantity leads to quality? That there is a direct relationship between the intensity of work and the time it takes to achieve success. Success does not depend on time, it depends on you.
If you can increase the intensity, then you can decrease the amount of time it takes to become successful. You can also increase your luck as well. The cheat code is simple, do double the work, and get success in half the time.
Don’t believe me? Try it. Double your work ethic.
How To Stay On Your Path.
You may fall off the rails, so to avoid that, I would recommend keeping a journal and writing down your daily goals in the morning, it helps you keep on track and at the end of the day, tick off the goals that you achieved.
Keeping daily goals helps to increase your chances of success, this is because it serves as a reminder to you, therefore you stay focused like a racehorse.
What you can take with you.
To conclude here are some points that you can take back with you:
- There is no “big break.”
- Going viral is like winning the lottery but most lottery winners lose their money fast.
- Success is like the grain of rice, let it double.
- Success depends on how much effort you put in each day.
- Use the two tips I gave you.
- Understand the relationship between intensity and success.
- Keep daily goals.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
