How Should You Actually Know God’s Will For You? So That You Can Live Happily Everafter and Keeping Your Hair Straight!
Before you begin to attempt to understand this, you must know how strong your belief is.

OK, I heard a lot about doing God’s Will. But I didn’t know how to understand just what God’s Will really was. How do we know what God’s will for us is?
Well, to start, we should probably define what God is. There are so many notions about what God was and, of course, they were all very uneducated guesses. I pictured him just like the images in the magazines.
My picture of God was this man-like figure with long hair “Up there somewhere in heaven.” Whatever heaven was. Sitting on a golden throne wearing a white robe, judging, and punishing.
To be honest with you, I guess I feared Him.
I had seen in the movies that it was right to be a “God-fearing man!” And the movies and magazines were pretty much my instructors on life.
So, as you can see, my religious experience was very slim and my spiritual knowledge was none.
I was almost 40 years old when I entered the AA Program, a defeated man. It was here that I was introduced to spirituality. I loved what I was learning and grabbed onto it like a drowning man who was just thrown a life jacket.
This life jacket, for me, was that there was a Power greater than me and It was not “Up there somewhere in heaven.” It was in my heart and guts all the time and I just didn’t acknowledge this.
What’s more, It was in you at the same time — all of us, in fact. Rich, poor, black, white, tall, short, old, young. It was in each and every being! We were simply expressions of this Higher Power.
Today, I CHOOSE to call this Higher Power God. In fact, It can be called anything — God, Allah, Buddha, Lord, Jesus, or simply It! I simply must realize that This Power is right here ready, able, and very willing to help me.
All that I must do is ASK! It says in the Big Book of AA, “He could and would if He were sought!”
So, I asked. I said “Hey, God. What is your will for me?” Now, God is not going to answer me with verbiage. Since He is in our hearts, He will answer with vibrations, intuitions, thoughts, emotions, instincts, and reflexes.
What does this mean? It means that if it FEELS right it IS right and so it IS His will. It also means that if there is ANY apprehension at all, reconsider. Step back and take another look. Then, if it feels right, it is right. If not, try another.
This is so very simple. Simple, though, not always easy. To do this, simply say the shortened version of the AA 3rd Step, “God, help me.” Then just step back out of his way and let Him. Couldn’t be more simple!
The difficult part is stepping out of His way and letting go. But, are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? If so, JUST DO IT! You will love the rewards! Although, I am not positive about keeping the hair straight. Sorry!
Thank you, God!
