How Self-Doubt Propelled Me to Success
The Surprising Benefits of Questioning Yourself

Do you ever feel useless? Like you lack the skills, the confidence, and the worthiness to achieve your goals? Maybe you feel like you’re always second-guessing yourself and what you’re capable of? If you answered yes to any of my questions, you’re not alone. I used to feel the same way, and i still do sometimes. Infact, self-doubt was one of my biggest obstacles that I had to overcome along my journey to success.
A bit about me
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I started adult life straight out of a broken home with absolutely nothing. I was working 12-hour shifts in a shop with the nastiest boss on earth, and barely making ends meet. I had a lack of formal education, no connections, no mentors, no resources. I had nothing but a dream and a desire to make a difference in the world for others and myself.
The problem was, I also had a lot of self-doubt. I wondered if I was smart, talented, and worthy enough to pursue my dreams. I questioned every single decision I made, every action I took, and all of the opportunities that came my way. I was afraid of failure, rejection, and criticism and walked through life feeling like an imposter.

But you know what? Self-doubt propelled me to success. How? Because it made me work harder, learn faster, grow stronger, and punch much higher. It made me challenge myself, push my limits, and prove my self worth. It also made me hungry for success, humble, and grateful for everything I already had.
Self-doubt made me who I am today. I am the founder and CEO of my own talent acquisition company. I have 26 staff and more on their way who work from home now
I can just about afford to go on a holiday of my choice once a year to a country of my choice. I bought my dream car, a nice BMW X5. I’ve cut down my hours thanks to the business being pretty much autonomous. My company is run by the staff that I employed myself. I can spend more time on Medium now, which has turned out to be an actual part-time business within 6 weeks.

I’m not here to brag. I’m here to share with you the lessons that I learned from my experience with self-doubt. I just want to write some positive words and hopefully help you overcome your self-doubt and achieve success if you aren’t already. I’m here to tell you that you are good enough. You have what it takes, you deserve to be happy and successful.

Some of you may have already achieved way more than me, and some may think they have achieved less. It doesn’t matter, and it’s irrelevant. It’s what we do from this point forward that matters.
Here are some tips that helped me overcome my self-doubt and achieve my goals
Acknowledge your self-doubt
Don’t ignore it, deny it, or suppress it. Instead, recognize self-doubt, accept it, and embrace it. Self-doubt is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of humanity. It means that you care and that you have standards. It means you have incredible potential. Self-doubt is not your enemy, it’s your ally. Self-doubt can motivate you, inspire you, and guide you to success.
Challenge your self-doubt
Don’t let self-doubt paralyze you, limit you, or define you. Instead, question it, push through it, and let it drive you to your destination. Self-doubt is not a fact, but a belief. It is not based on reality, it’s perception and projection. Self-doubt is not the truth, but a lie. It can deceive you, discourage you, and stop you. But you can change that. You can silence self doubt, and thank it for the wonderful lesson it has taught you. I regularly thank my self doubt for my success, and make a mockery of it.
Act despite your self-doubt for the win
Don’t wait for it to disappear, to diminish, or to dissolve. Instead, act despite it, and get on with it while you are feeling like that. Self-doubt is not a reason, but a lousy excuse. It’s not a barrier, but a challenge. Self-doubt is not the end, it’s a golden opportunity and the starting pistol telling you to go for it. It can delay you, deter you, and distract you. But if you ignore it and push through, the result might just blow you away like it has me.

Self-doubt is a natural and normal part of life. It’s something that we all experience, at some point, to some degree. The point is, it’s also something that we can all overcome. with some effort, some courage, and some support.
I hope my little morning story and my tips have helped you in some way. I really hope that you’ve gained a little insight, some confidence, and some hope. Hopefully, now you realise that self-doubt is not a curse, but possibly the biggest blessing and gift staring you right in the face. It is not a problem, it’s an opportunity. Self-doubt is one of your biggest strengths.
Self-doubt propelled me to success. And it can do the same for you.
Have an amazing day 🙂💪🏽
