How Rich is Eckhart Tolle?
How Rich is Eckhart Tolle? And How Does He Earn His Money?
What does he spend his money on? And should he provide his wisdom for free?
According to WealthyPersons.com, he has $80 million. So, it turns out that being a famous spiritual guru has its perks. Other than being spiritually enlightened, of course.
But it makes me wonder how he manages to still keep his ego in check. Being a multi-millionaire must sometimes make him think “Yeah, I’m awesome!”
In the following video, someone asks him whether money and spirituality are compatible. He gives a careful answer.
He says that there’s not a problem with having material things. It’s only a problem if you become attached to them. And even if someone rejects material things, they may still want them. In such cases, they won’t have transcended the need for material things.
He says that a poor person can be attached to the few possessions they do have. And it’s possible for a wealthy person to not be attached to anything.
I’m sceptical about that. Most people get rich because they tried to get rich. And even when people inherit money from a rich family, they tend to want to hold onto it. If not, they might lose it and no longer be rich. Then they will be a poor person who desperately clings to the few remaining material things they do have.
How does Eckhart Tolle earn his money?
Well, of course, he has sold many copies of his books. But how else does he earn his money?
By staging big events. If you look at his website, he does about 3 of these per month. The next one is at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle in January 2022.
Tickets cost $77 per person. The Paramount Theatre can seat up to 2,807 people. But even if it's only half full, that’s still a total of $108,031. Do that three times a month and it’s $324,093. That’s not far off $4 million a year!
Of course, not all that money will go to Eckhart. There will be staff to pay, as well as other overheads. But he’s still going to end up with a lot of money.
What does Eckhart Tolle spend his money on?
Here is a video from 2014 where he talks about his daily life:
So, he does quite a lot of travelling. But when he’s not travelling, he lives a very simple, quiet life. He even describes his life as “not interesting, unfortunately”. Well, I suppose that’s the way he likes it.
Should Eckhart Tolle provide his wisdom for free?
$80 million is more than enough for anyone, right? Particularly if that person isn’t attached to material things.
Is Eckart truly interested in spreading his wisdom to as many people as possible? If he was, he would offer his events for free, right?
Well, perhaps not completely free, because he still needs to pay staff and overheads. But surely at a massively reduced price?
I suppose he’s not as bad as Tony Robbins, though. He is charging $495 for his latest event.
