Learning about Reiki, an ancient Japanese energy healing modality, changed my life. I started participating in Reiki sessions about 5 years ago. These sessions have improved my energy levels and my self-concept. I felt a shift in my conference and improvements in my mental health. Reiki healing also helped dissolve digestion issues I was having, after I learned this was about trauma I was holding in my abdomen.

Different forms of the Reiki healing modality are known to be used as far back as the 1800s in Japanese culture. Mikao Usui is credited as the founder of Reiki. He began to develop the modality of Reiki in the 1920s.

Everyone’s energy is unique. Every being’s energy is connected to who they are and how they see and view life. Everything is connected. This has been proven through the Universal Law of Oneness. This law states that we are all one. Everything on earth is one. We are all interconnected.

It is important to be able to protect your energy as a result. Energy is easily transferred from one being or object to the next. Protecting your energy allows you to be able to be in control of your feelings, emotions, mental and physical health. How you feel on the inside is also connected to how you see and view your life on the outside.

One of the purposes of Reiki is to help you to improve and balance all aspects of life. Reiki can help you shift old unwanted energy, such as memories that no longer service you, as well as emotional and physical pain and discomfort.

Various research has shown that our physical bodies hold onto trauma in energetic ways. The book, Your Body Keeps The Score talks about this. When receiving Reiki, the modality is designed to help you release any unwanted energy that is blocked or stuck in your body.

As your energy levels become more balanced, you will start to feel an increased level of peace and neutrality in life and the heightened emotions of feelings you have been picking up because of the stressors from today’s society will lessen throughout treatments.

Reiki Practitioners can tune into your energy flow. They focus on the 7 main energy pressure points on the body, known as Chakras. Each Charka is related to an area in your body. Each Chakra holds different meanings and different energy. Chakras are your body’s main energy centers. When a Chakra becomes imbalanced it can lead to mental and physical complications. These include:

  • health and digestive issues,
  • sleep disturbances,
  • high or low emotional moods,
  • rapid life changes, and decisions,
  • and disconnection to yourself and life

Developing a Reiki practice can be beneficial as it will continue to help your energy levels balance and align.

Everyone experiences Reiki differently.

Sometimes you might not feel the partitioners work right after a session. It may take a few days, weeks, or even months for your energy to continue to shift and align. As your energy shifts, the Reiki will go where it is meant to go and heal what is meant to be healed. Every Reiki partitioner practices differently.
