How Reciprocating Reads Get Easier With Every Read For Me
Spreading love within a community is contagious.
The secret to a happy home is the love we share on the inside.
So when one of my writer friends shared with me recently how she was struggling to keep up with reading and responding to comments on her articles, my response was — I'll share my strategy with the whole community.
The truth is, It's not always possible to read every writer I follow. So even with the best intentions, I'll sometimes miss replying to comments on my articles too.
Keeping up with Medium isn't always easy.
But these days, I never let a day go by without engaging one way or another.
Committing to self works for me.
Recently, I've committed to reading at least twenty articles per day and publishing a new article in 5–6 days. It might not be an impressive goal for some, but for me, it's setting goals that are realistic and achievable.
I run a business and work full-time. Therefore, managing my time is essential.
How is that going?
For the most part, I've stuck with my commitment to read 20 articles per day. Some days I'd even go overboard. Unfortunately, I'm a few days off writing this week due to a work conference! Life happens.
Catch up as soon as you can.
Here is my recently updated daily routine.
My first ten daily reads are within my community at Reciprocal.
I've held to my promise to spread the love within in honor of our house rules -"A place where you can find support and be the support for others."
These are words I now embrace and practice every day on Medium.
I read clap and spread the love further by leaving a comment.
By commenting, you increase your chances of being read.
It's not a read-for-read game, as some would want you to believe it is. Instead, It's community building.
How commenting could work in your favor
- Readers read other readers' comments too.
- It's that meeting room where you get an extra chance to be seen and make new friends. Commenting is an additional avenue for your voice to be heard that could bring you, new followers.
- Commenting is especially beneficial if your article doesn't get curated by Medium.
Your comment doesn't always have to be lengthy. A thoughtful sentence or two will do. Let someone feel special and watch the ripple effect.
Join our community at Reciprocal. Let's write together and support one another.
