How proud can you be?

Once again, I have been offered some inspiration by a medium friend.

This time it was Nanie Hurley 🌿who wrote about her daughter being her best friend, and the pride she felt.

This took me back to last Christmas.

Before Covid struck in 2020, my youngest daughter always held a Christmas gathering of family and friends.

This, of course, was impossible during the pandemic and last Christmas was the first time we were able to meet up as a crowd.

After meeting up with friends, we had not been able to see much of over the years. I was able to catch up with my youngest granddaughter.

She was coming to the end of her master’s degree in psychology. She told me she had taken a part-time job working with children suffering from psychological problems and intended to open her own clinic to help those with psychological problems.

I was overwhelmed with pride at what she had achieved and for what she wanted for the future. When I told her how proud I was and how she had already achieved more than I had in my life.

She turned to look at me and said.

“But you can play the guitar.”

The fact that this little lady put my three chord skiffling on a par with her achievements and plans brought a tear to my eye.

Fortunately, her mother, my daughter announced food was being served.

So, I was spared the embarrassment of blubbing.

But I am still bursting with pride.
