How Not to Make Money on HubPages
Don’t rush the process, take your time and create high-quality, detailed articles

I’ve been writing and publishing content on HubPages for a decade now, so I’m qualified to discuss this topic.
Firstly, If you’re new to blogging or making money online, you probably haven’t heard of Hubpages.
What is Hubpages?
Hubpages is a digital publishing platform where writers or bloggers can earn money by publishing articles.
Hubpages is a revenue share platform, so they don’t pay you upfront for your content. You earn money when people read your articles and click on ads.
You might earn $5 per thousand views, or more depending on your RPM for that day. RPM is the amount of money you earn per thousand views. Hubpages shares its ad revenue with you, the writer.
I don’t promote Hubpages anymore because it’s a difficult platform now. When I first started writing on Hubpages, it was quite straightforward. You publish your first piece, they place ads on your content, and you make money when people read your content.
Now, you must write five articles that get featured, this means that Hubpages approves your article to get featured on the discover page. If your article remains on the standard Hubpages site, you won’t make money.
You must have five pieces featured on the discover page before you get officially monetized on Hubpages.
The weird thing is that now, they use some kind of AI bot to read your articles, and more articles get rejected than approved.
So, if you’re not new to Hubpages, and you joined under the old system, you won’t have this problem.
You can reignite your Hubpages account and start making money from your article, but here’s how NOT to make money on Hubpages:
Do not create book summaries using AI
I’ve seen so many videos about this, and most recently articles on Medium and other platforms about using AI to create book summaries to publish on Hubpages. Don’t do this.
AI content is not allowed on Hubpages. They will unpublish your article and you might get banned from the platform, so don’t bother.
Don’t create badly written articles to promote Amazon affiliate products
One way to make money on Hubpages is to create search-friendly Amazon product reviews. However, Hubpages won’t publish your reviews if they’re badly written for the sole purpose of promoting an Amazon affiliate products.
If you really want to make some decent money by promoting Amazon products on Hubpages, write very detailed, longform reviews instead.
Book reviews are good, especially when you review popular books however, you won’t earn much from Amazon Associates, so I’d highly recommend high-ticket affiliate products instead. For example, products that cost more than $500.
I’ve made more than $2000 promoting blenders on Hubpages. I’m a smoothie junkie so I own four high-quality blenders. When I’ve used the blender for a while, I create a detailed article about it, and publish it on Hubpages.
To become an Amazon affiliate on Hubpages, you don’t need to sign up for Amazon Associates itself. Hubpages have an in-built Amazon Associates system which means that you earn money directly through Hubpages instead of Amazon.
Previously, you had to connect your own Amazon Associates account to Hubpages, now anyone with a Paypal account can sign up to earn money as an Amazon Associate.
Do not rewrite popular articles to make money online with Hubpages
Hubpages will reject your article and ban you from the platform if you even try to rewrite articles and publish them on the platform. They don’t like it! Hubpages recommends publishing high-quality, long-form content, 700 words or more.
Yes, you can publish popular news content on Hubpages, they do well, however, you must promote them yourself if you want to really gain traction for these articles.
Some popular “make money online” gurus will tell you to find articles, copy and paste them to ChatGPT and republish them on Hubpages. Don’t do this! You won’t last long on Hubpages. Instead, focus on creating very long, detailed trending topic articles.
Hubpages recommends 700 words, howeer, I’d say go for 1000 to 1500 words if you want to gain traction and make money.
