How Mutual Respect Magnifies The Value Of Love

Mutual respect brings love and happiness between people.

Mutual respect enhances the value of love. This is my thought process. I wonder what you think about it?

Mutual respect is like reciprocity. You love each other. You receive love and you give love.

Giving and taking of love is reciprocal. It is a relationship where people or groups agree to do something similar for each other. This can only be possible when people respect each other.

There are many advantages when you mutually respect each other. It enhances love for sure. Not only does love shine but with it, there is an increase in productivity.

1. Mutual respect attracts love and enhances productivity.

In the college where I taught, there was a technical assistant Pia (name changed) who people did not respect. They jeered at her because she wore strange clothes. They were judgemental about her to the point that she even became a bad worker. She would hide the pile of files and not complete her work.

I remember, I called her by name and very sweetly explained the work to her. She brought a bottle of pure coconut oil from her home in Goa when she came back from her summer holidays. With a big, broad smile and she said “This is for you from my home”!

You respected me and I felt motivated to do my work more efficiently and also dress well in the office. She said that she really loved me as her Godmother. This is pure love. Mutual respect had not only magniifed love but it also increased productivity.

2. Mutual respect has the power of compromise.

Bobby and Bina were married for 10 years. They mutually respected each other. They found many differences in their lives. Their preferences were completely different from each other because of their family backgrounds and upbringing.

Bina’s parents were extremely fond of parties and inviting people, whereas Bobby’s parents were very private people and did not want to meet too many people. They had very few friends too.

The differences often crept up between the couple but because there was mutual respect between the two of them they compromised with each other’s families when they visited them. They made adjustments and compromises with each other.

These compromises can be easily made not only between couples but with parents, siblings, and friends if you mutually respect each other.

3.Mutual respect helps in taking major decisions in life

My friend Kitty was in a relationship with Karen. He had the habit of inviting his friends and because Kitty was beautiful, he loved to show her around. They loved each other.

Soon Kitty found that if Karen’s male friends joked with her and she replied he would distrust her and call her names. He had no respect for her.

She sacrificed everything for Karen. She would stop meeting friends who complimented her.

For a while, she stopped meeting her own friends because Karen was over-possessive and would not like her to mingle with them.

One day she came for advice to me. I told her that if they had mutual respect for each other the relationship would magnify the value of love.

Sadly, Kitty found out for herself that Karen did not respect her at all even though he said that he loved her.

There can be no long-term relationship of love without mutual respect. It is better to understand and make a decision if either party feels that respect is not here to break away.

True love is based on mutual respect.

How you can maintain a mutual relationship for magnifying the value of love?

#1. Keep the environment stress-free so that the people within the relationship are happy together.

#2. Trust and respect each other's privacy. Believe in each other’s values. There should be room for healthy relationships.

#3. Compromise and make healthy adjustments with family, friends, siblings, colleagues, bosses.

#4. Create an environment that is free of fear for all the parties in the relationship.

#5 Choices of the different parties should be respected and at par with each other.

What are the learnings?

#1. Respect and love are related: Whether it is a friend, a partner, a husband sibling, or a parent. Respect for each other enhances and magnifies love. If you lift the other up and not downgrade in front of others mutual respect will develop.

#2. Respect brings about reciprocity: If you have respect for each other you will try to keep each other happy and make adjustments and compromise with situations even if you do not like them. Respect has the power of enhancing love towards the other person.

#3. Each one is unique: Every person is unique and has a different talent. We must find out this talent and appreciate it. This gives a sense of respect to the other person. Then the person reciprocates and appreciates your limitations. In this manner, long-term friendships and relationships survive.

To conclude

A relationship may not be between equals. It may not be between people of the same talent. It may not be perfect. A relationship built on mutual respect magnifies the value of love.

If you want to have long-term friendships and relationships lift each other up and think of each other’s talents. Believe in the power of reciprocity. Reciprocal is the right fit for us as writers.

Brothers are fighting for the property that their parents had made with their hard work. They do not respect each other’s sentiments. Writers are having problems with publishers and other writers as each one wants to show the other one down.

Change yourself. Now is the time to think of respect and love for each other.

Mutual respect will build a community. My advice is that we join our hands and work together to build mutual trust and love.
