How Much Should One Heart Carry?

You are not alone

They carried more than a woman should carry. -Joy Harjo

We don’t have much say over the things we carry. That is the nature of our human heads and hearts.

My human heart is exposed. Once it was hardened and hidden in the dark and when I broke it free, I knew I could receive more than I imagined.

In this receiving there is joy and support and everything genuine and kind about love.

In this receiving there are boulders. Hard, heavy chunks of sorrow and despair. I drag them until I can’t bear it then squeeze them, they are released through tear ducts and bodily trembles.

How much should one heart carry? Do I carry these things because others can’t?

In the spring, I went to a clairvoyant. In a past life, she said, you were an energy healer. People would come to you and you would help them heal.

Maybe this explains the pull, why I gravitate towards the things that will help people heal. I write to reach out to the other hearts who are sure they carry these boulders alone. To the souls who can’t take another step under the crushing weight of it.

You are not alone, I sing. We are not alone. Broken hearts can mend, I am proof. I will not let you be lost in isolation.

Come to me. I learn and learn again what I can carry and when it weighs too much, I turn to the others like me.

We are not islands but hearts entwined in a web of all that is.

Walk beside me I walk beside guides and spirits living and ethereal, that is the nature of my human heart.

I stand in awareness and actualization, myself in front of myself. Infinitely curious about third eyes chakras soulmates twin flames all of the universe’s energy.

My human heart is open. Once it was closed and caught in emptiness and when I broke it free, I knew I could receive more than I imagined. In this receiving there is power reinforcement awakening connection. In this receiving I become human.
