How Much I Earn As a Small YouTuber with 5,170 Subscribers

I am a small YouTuber with over 30,000 views a month, this is how much money I made on YouTube?

YouTube is a revolutionary platform. Think about YouTube as a platform where you just make a video talking about a specific topic and you could make thousands of dollars. YouTube is great for learning as well as a platform for entertainment. This new age of digital information is also called “Infotainment” where Information is presented with entertainment. YouTube was the very first platform I make money back then in 2016, I started blogging in 2017 and make a good amount of money but YouTube always fascinates me.

Back in 2016, YouTube doesn’t have any policy for getting monetized, you uploaded your very first video, and boom, you are in. But, one video where ads shouldn’t be displayed spark huge criticism, and the advertisers on YouTube blackout. YouTube change their terms for getting into YouTube Partner Program and now they need 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 public watch hours before they show ads on your videos and you get eligible to make money.

As of writing this article, My YouTube channel has 5.17K subscribers. I have over 200 videos on YouTube.

My goals for 2021 is to upload at least 200 more videos and make it grow to over 50K subscribers YouTube channel. This is hard but if we give it a try then YouTube could be the best source of income for any person.

The Factors that determine your YouTube earnings:

If you are on Medium, everyone is paying $5 a month, if you are an American, Asian, or in Europe, you are paying $5 a month, and every reading time matters. But, this isn’t the case with YouTube or platforms the whole business model revolves around advertising. Following are some of the factors that determine your YouTube earnings;

  • The demography of your audience: If your audience is from the developed countries, you will make somewhere between $4 to $20 per 1,000 views. This is because of the competition. The advertisers are paying more for an ad-slot to win the bid. You might get $0.8 to $2 CPM if your views are from underdeveloped countries. You can ask any YouTuber and he or she will confirm this.
  • The Niche or the Topic of your videos: This is the second most important thing. If we keep the demography of your audience constant and just experiment with the niche of the channel then you will see a huge difference in the earning of a YouTuber who makes videos about insurance, investment, or business will make more money than those who make Vlogs or other types of content.
  • The length of your YouTube videos: Now this is a kind of tip to make more money. Those who make longer, 10+ Minutes videos will make more money as they can incorporate multiple ads in their videos.
  • The source of your traffic: If your traffic is coming from the search engine (YouTube & Google) you will get high CPM compared to YouTubers who are getting traffic from social media or forum websites.

Ads aren’t the only way to make money on YouTube but instead, it is not the major business model of YouTubers, sponsorship brings the most money to YouTubers.

What is the niche of my channel?

I make videos related to Blogging and writing on different platforms like Medium and other writing platforms. Most of the time I just speak what I have written in an article and convert it to video.

The screenshot below shows the power of video. You can reach thousands of people just by making videos. It is a slow process and it might take you some time but the reward is worth working for.

My YouTube channel Analytics about how powerful is YouTube to reach a wider audience.

I have a CPM of $11 which is extraordinary compared to the Average CPM of $7 on YouTube. As I said, YouTube CPM depends upon many factors like your audience demography and the niche of your YouTube channel. Another critical factor that I have missed is “The source of traffic” if you are getting traffic from the search engine, you will see a high CPM compared to the same niche or demography channel which is getting traffic from social media.

How much money I have made on YouTube?

Do you want to see my earnings on YouTube? Here is how much money I have made just uploading 4 to 10 videos on YouTube every month. These earnings might not impress you, but when you think about the long-term, a single video could make hundreds of dollars, and this means your one-hour worth is over $100

That means I have made over $816 from YouTube.

Are more subscribers means more money?

YouTube doesn’t pay for subscribers. (Repeat 3x)

Subscriber is a social signal, it shows that you can get more views in the future. YouTube only pays for the monetized view. Not every view is going to make you money if your viewer is using an ad-block.

Some YouTube channel creators buy Subscribers, even though they have millions of Subscribers but they have views in thousands, which shows that they might make less amount of money. Alternatively, a channel with just 100K subscribers might get more views than a channel with 1 million subscribers and she will make more money.

Lesson learned here is: “Don’t ever buy subscribers”

We Miss the point;

The point here to note down isn’t the money we made but the community that we build. We have a stronger and active community that has a huge interest in knowing about different writing platforms and how they could make big on those platforms. We are growing 5.2K subscribers and this means as we upload more videos, our community will grow more.

If you are writing online or interested to make money online, the very first thing you need to do is to make sure you build yourself a community. You, as a content creator, is nothing without a community.

YouTube is indeed a great platform, besides making money on YouTube you have more opportunities like;

  • You can reach thousands or hundreds of thousands of people for free.
  • YouTube is good for branding so if you want that people recognize you in public (one of my wet dream) YouTube is the right platform for you.
  • You can promote affiliate products, your build products, or almost anything on YouTube.
  • Why leave a platform when you can actually make money on it?
  • The video demand is increasing, advertisers are spending more money on videos and almost 70% of the Facebook feed is video.

A Small Change Can Grow Through Proper Video SEO:

If you want to start your YouTube journey and there are countless bloggers telling you that “You are late” don’t listen. Instead, learn YouTube SEO and start uploading more content. As they say “No one can beat your passion for anything”

The answer to your every question about YouTube is to “Learn YouTube SEO

Most of my subscribers and views are because they found my channel through YouTube and Google search.

Following is the 5-step process that should do to make your YouTube video optimize for search engines;

  1. Research the keyword before making a video. A keyword is a phrase search by people on different search engines.
  2. Include your keyword in the title of the video as well as speak it on your video. Add the keyword in the description and in the tags section.
  3. Longer videos are easy to rank as YouTube search engine ranking is wholly based on “Watch time” the longer the video, the more watch time.
  4. Add an attractive and eye-catching thumbnail. The more clicks you receive when someone discover your video the more watch time.
  5. Add relevant keywords in the tags section of the video. Add at least 10 tags in the video.

That’s sit.
