How Much Do You Actually Have to Write to Be Successful On Medium?
It’s a question that everyone has. I’m going to attempt to answer it…
How much do you actually have to write to be successful on Medium? I see this one question all over Medium. I’ve seen many people as the question and many people answer the question. I may not have the answer today, but I sure am going to attempt to give you one.
After two months on Medium, I’ve written and published 77 articles! It’s been quite fun, and it has given me quite a lot of knowledge regarding how much you need to publish when it comes to writing on Medium in order to be successful.
Before I get started, I’d like to say there are two types of writing consistency on Medium, writing as frequently as every day of the week to 2–3 days a week. The second is what I like to call the pay-off. Once you’ve done a certain amount of writing, you can sustain yourself with a relatively low amount of writing.
If You’re a Beginner…
If you’re a beginner, then I recommend that you write articles multiple times a week. When I started on Medium I would write at least one article a day, and on some occasions, two! I recommend consistency when you’re a beginner since you get low views, and you’re articles die out most of the time. If your articles get curated you’re extremely lucky! I only have two curated articles after writing 77 of them!
If You’ve Been Writing For A Long Time…
If you’ve been writing for a long time, a few months or so, you should be able to have sustainability! This means that every article you write should do relatively well and perform well for an extended period of time. Your curation rate may also be higher, allowing your articles to get more exposure to audiences. After writing about fifty articles, I slowed down with writing bi time!
Once I slowed down, I was shocked to see that my articles had performed better than usual! This was a crazy thing for me as I was a huge advocate for the short and consistent articles. I still advocate for this but I’ve now realized how great long and less consistent articles are! You should still have a writing schedule, however. This writing schedule doesn’t have to be intense. It can be more relaxed and less consistent.
Thank you so much for reading!
