How Medium Has Changed My Life
Medium is attractive, exciting, and leaves me wanting more just like an online match, which entices me to learn more.
Every morning when I wake up, I look forward to what I am going to read on Medium and about the idea of writing my next piece and sharing it with my fellow readers.
No matter what kind of day I can expect, I can always rely on Medium to distract me from the day to day grind, elevate my mood, and boost my creative juices based on the content of what I read, and my innermost thoughts.
Many times these two elements come together, and I am able to create a writing piece I would have never thought of, without having discovered Medium.
Medium gives me the tools, inspiration, and platform to express myself in so many ways, whether it is in the form of poetry, storytelling, or simply an outlet for personal expression in many genres of writing topics.
I have always enjoyed writing, and especially during the height of the pandemic in 2020. When I was undergoing personal struggles, writing poetry became a passion.
At that time, I searched for ways to join poetry contests, self-publish, or join an online platform where I could see the fruits of my labor, and share my feelings and insights with others.
I didn’t have enough poems to self-publish, wasn’t prominent to get a poetry book published, nor did I find a satisfying writing or publishing platform.
So, how did I stumble upon Medium?
Well, when something is meant to be, it happens. It was a fluke.
I had stopped looking for a means to publish. I had decided to follow someone of the opposite sex whom I had an interest in, on social media, who also, happened to ghost me. (Well, that’s another story…I actually penned an article on it on Medium: Ghosting, A Cowardly Act.)
As it turns out, he was an avid writer and a member on Medium.
As an aspiring writer, I researched Medium, and I was impressed. I found my niche, my home, and a safe place for writing and reading material of everything imaginable ranging from sensuality/sexuality to technology/data science.
Medium has allowed me to express myself in writing in a creative, inviting and personal way. I had finally found an easy, versatile, and exciting platform that has helped me build on my desire and skills to write.
Medium has given me learning opportunities about self-publishing, earning money for stories, and joining writing, all rolled up into one wonderfully vast writing/publishing platform.
I couldn’t be happier with how Medium has expanded my mind and writing skills and has triggered my appetite to learn and produce more.
It has enhanced my love for writing with a whole new dimension of passion and enjoyment.
Medium provides me with a sense of community, belonging to a group of writers who share the same passion for writing and whom, perhaps, share the same thoughts, but who also have varied viewpoints from whom I can learn.
As an added bonus, following others and being followed is a welcome validation that my work resonates with others and vice-versa. It feels good to know that my work is appreciated and has brought pleasure or provoked thought in some way. to someone else.
Medium has been a game changer in my daily life, as reading and writing have become one of my main and favorite pastimes. Using my gift of writing on Medium makes me feel grateful, productive, useful, and personally fulfilled. It has become a rewarding part of my routine, yet it is not mundane and continuously generates my enthusiasm to write.
Medium and I were meant to be a match, just like matching with someone on an online dating site. We share so much in common. It is attractive, exciting, and leaves me wanting more, just like an online match you want to know more about. We have had many dates over coffee, during the day, and at night time. Just like a fun date, my time with Medium has been engaging, interactive, and satisfying.
Speaking of dates, I must give credit to the man who I was meant to meet through which I inadvertently learned about Medium after he ghosted me.
I would have never discovered Medium without him entering my life. I owe it to him, ironically, for the life-changing experiences I have garnered and for the knowledge, amusement, and growth I will continue to gain.
