How Many Times Should You Send a Link to Your Email Subscribers?
Striking the right balance between frequency and engagement

Getting enough people to read your content is often a challenge on Medium. It’s easy to get lost in the countless amount of posts published each day. One way to increase the number of views on your articles is to send out an email once a blog post is published. Your subscribers can check out the email and click on the link to read the rest of your article.
How Much is Too Much?
Sending out links to your subscribers is great if you don’t publish often. However, should you send out an email if you publish daily or every other day? No one wants to lose subscribers or fill up someone’s email box with constant notifications. Finding the right balance isn’t easy because everyone has their own opinion.
Only Send Out a Few Notifications Per Week
Not every article is equal on Medium. Some of my articles are much more relevant to everyone, while others are only going to be interesting to a few people. I’ve been guilty of sending out too many email notifications in the past, and I plan to limit them in the future. If I keep publishing each day, I’ll try to only send out notifications for 2–3 articles each week.
What is Your Strategy for Sending Out Emails?
Do you notify your subscribers with each article you publish, or do you only do that for a select few? There is no right or wrong answer because each reader has their own preferences. Some may want to be notified of each new article, while others would rather you not clutter their inbox. Either way, I’m more than happy to hear your feedback.
