How Many People Can Say They Took 16 Airplane Flights In Two Weeks?

A Vacation Like No Other

Throughout my youth, I was very lucky to travel a lot. Each trip unique in its own way. When I was fourteen, my father found an amazing deal and creative solution to filling a two week gap on the east coast between family events.

For less than a typical cross-country ticket today, we had the most amazing experience flying where ever we wanted over two weeks for one price. With a start in New York and an end in Washington DC, we headed south to explore Bermuda, Florida, and the Caribbean. Rather than pick one place and stay put, we used the opportunity to peek at a variety of things and determine what we would like to see again.

I remember walking the streets of Key West, hearing about Ernest Hemingway.

I remember exploring Epcot Center in Orlando, loving every minute of it.

I remember flying into small island airports and seeing the plane wrecks along the runways.

I remember riding a Moped for the first time around Bermuda and falling in love with idyllic spots that we rode past.

We even went on a sailing adventure for 3 days in the Caribbean. I have always loved being out on the water.

Back then, Club Med was a popular destination, so we visited Eleuthera, a family-focused all-inclusive resort for 3 days. So many sports to choose from! We even tried the Trapeze. I often recount one memory from this stop whenever people around me complain of Mosquito bites. On our way back to the airport, my brother kept entertained by counting the countless bites on me… totally 150 on each leg, yes, 150 on each leg. CRAZY!

Every vacation comes with it challenges, one other, was our hosts on our sailing trip. Due to personalities and lack of food, it was a long 3 days.

Even with those memories, we still remember this trip fondly as a family. I wish flying was more reasonable so we could do more trips like this.
