How Living in Village Can Change Your Life

The real beauty and lot of life lessons are learned by living in villages

I was born and brought up in a small village but I moved to the city for my education. It’s been 10 years since I have been away from home.

Recently, as a pandemic hit. I cam back home and started living with my parents. In these 6 months, living in a village and in the womb of parents was a blessing for me.

The day I left home, I know I would come back home only in my vacations but this pandemic gave me the chance to come back and rejoice all those beauties of my small village. The flashback of all those memories started teaching me many life lessons.

Blessed to live with my parents again

I often visit my parents and sometimes they come to the city to visit me. But living with them for so long is a great blessing.

Being at home, I have learned many things from my parents. We all know parents care for us and whenever we do something wrong they are always there to point out our mistakes. They make us realize our fault.

When I was living in a city, nobody cared for my mistakes. I know living with parents is a shameful act in some cultures but I feel blessed to live with them. I don’t know how long I will live but I am sure I will create memories.

Things I learned by living with Parents:

  1. Learned from their experience: My dad shares his life experiences with me and this has helped me a lot to reflect back on my life.
  2. I got to know how they live: In the past 10 years I could guess their life just by the way we talk on call but living together is a totally different thing. I learned the way they live, the way they fight, and the way they make up again.
  3. The satisfaction of helping them: This corona has changed their thinking in various ways. They believed everything which comes on Whatsapp and social media. But I always tell and help them with my views and then they feel relaxed.

Rejoicing the fresh air

In the village, there is no automobile exhaust, industries, or smelly waste. Here, you can go from one end to another end walking. There is no need for transportation.

The village life is pollution-free.

Here, the best physical exercise you can do is walk. As an active walk for 30 minutes will tone your system for the next 4 hours.

I often go with my friends for a walk in the evening. We all go to a nearby small hill and enjoy nature and fresh air. We sit on the hill and talk about our day. It’s the way we do physical activity daily and spend time with nature.

As it is said, if you truly love nature, you will find love everywhere. Nature makes us understand things in a better way.

This way we escape ourselves in a world of beauty, where we find wisdom and connect to our true self. This is the best refreshment for all of us.

“To me, Nature is a place where you retreat whenever you feel exhausted or sad. I’m happier when I’m surrounded by the sound of birds than the sound of people.”

-Keanu Reeves

Importance of money

Living cost in the village is much lower compared to the city lifestyle. Here, all the products are much cheaper compared to the city.

I could say I am saving almost 80% of my money as compared to my city lifestyle. Like, my whole family can live in a perfect way in just half of the money I used to spend in the city.

There are no expenses for transportation and food. As I get the home-cooked food of my mom's hands. This way I realized we humans don’t need much money to live. All other expenses are just of a high-quality lifestyle and fashion.

The lesson learned is:

“The most important thing is not to waste your money.”

-Gareth Bale

Importance of people

Living in a village creates a true human connection. Every morning you can say hi to your neighbors and meet your friend at the next door.

In the city, it was so hard to even catch up with my friends. As all were busy with their life. To kill our loneliness the city people watch movies and play online games.

In the village, you can see people who live in a hut and how they manage their expenses. Recently, I saw a woman who was collecting branches of trees which fell on the ground. When I asked her, why she is collecting?

She told me that there are mosquitoes at night. To have a night of better sleep, she is collecting wood. So that she can burn at night and sleep peacefully.

They even used the woods to cook their meal and in winter to protect themselves from cold.

When looking at people’s problems. I feel so blessed to have a roof on my head, water in my tap, good internet connection, and food on my table.

We all take these little things for granted but someone somewhere can’t even afford all those things.

Final Thoughts

I know I will be soon moving to my city life but living in my village and knowing the importance of it made me reflect back on my life.

I learned a lot and this is my place. I have lived my childhood in this small village and those memories and lessons always make me grounded and grateful.

My parents love village life. As there is no pollution and it’s calm. They are used to this life and they really admire the peacefulness and amicable life of the village.

“A meaningful life is not about being rich, being popular, being highly educated, or being perfect. It’s about being real, being humble, being able to share ourselves and touch the lives of others.
