How Is It Possible Illumination Is Only 2 Years Old Today?

Happy Birthday, Illumination! I thought you’d been around forever.

In my mind, the Illumination publications created by Dr Mehmet Yildiz have been around for ages. But it’s only been two years.

I had to do some digging to find that I began writing for the publication in May 2020. Only two months after its launch and near the beginning of the pandemic.

Illumination already felt well established at that point. I don’t think I had any notion it had all just begun.

I wrote my first article in Illumination about baking a Great Depression cake with my daughter when the pandemic had first begun, and food shortages due to supply chain issues were becoming a problem in the U.S.

A quick search showed me I have written 81 articles for the Illumination and Illumination-Curated publications. This makes 82. And three more for Synergy, also under the Illumination umbrella.

Although I’ve got a few niches I tend to stick to, I love to write about whatever strikes my interest at any given moment. And my interests are so varied.

The great thing about Illumination is that no matter what wild thought is in my brain, thoughts such as Pablo Escobar’s cocaine hippos, my latest political rant, fish rain in Texas, Lake Michigan ice pancakes, Sears mail-order houses, you name it, my thoughts have a home with Illumination.

As an editor (I became a volunteer editor for Illumination near the end of 2021) and a reader of the publication, it is inspiring to find such a diverse group of writers writing about a wide array of topics.

People from all around the world write for Illumination. When you come here, you can discover stories and viewpoints from people who have lived their entire lives completely unlike your own. And stories here tend to get curated, go viral, spark debates, and ignite discussion.

Illumination is clearly where the action is at.

So cheers to two years of Illumination, and hopefully many more to come!
