HOW I’M KEEPING MY NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION PROMISES IN 2022.
This year I not only made personal New Year Resolutions, but I also made New Year Resolutions specifically for my entrepreneurship journey.

It’s January 18th and although it’s still early in 2022, the majority of people have already forgotten about their new year resolutions, reverted back to their old habits, or have given up on their resolutions entirely already. I used to be someone who wouldn’t take my resolutions seriously, but ever since I changed that mindset it’s been a game-changer!
Continuing to work on your New Year Resolutions is also keeping your promise to yourself!
Telling yourself, “You can go get a coffee after you finish XYZ tasks” is super similar to making a goal for yourself for the new year, although a resolution is obviously bigger, it’s still a promise to yourself. When you make a new year resolution you are taking the time to really think about what you would like to change in your life in the new year and how you want to do that. So by giving up after a few weeks into the new year, that’s defeating the purpose of making that promise to yourself.
How I remind myself of my new year resolutions:
- I make a vision board.
- The first 30 days are hard, you’re changing habits, so you need to discipline yourself more while also giving yourself grace.
- Pick 1 BIG new year resolution that you can break down into the four quarters of the year. Then you can have attainable milestones throughout the year.
- Choose a new year resolution that you are really excited about, but also a bit nervous about. Something that makes you nervous typically means growth!
My example of a new year resolution:
A lot of people have the same new year's resolutions, they don’t pinpoint them to be specific to them and their life. This is why some people lose interest in their resolutions, they didn’t get specific enough. So for 2022, my goal was to really look at my own life and what could make it even better, while being attainable, and enjoyable to work on as well. I’m a big believer that you have to be in the right mindset to move mountains and in order to move mountains, you have to climb hills first. So if you’re not ready to move the mountain yet then climb a hill!
I’m creating a better work/life balance in 2022.
This is something that I noticed was affecting me in a variety of ways in 2021. I didn’t have a solid schedule or work hours. As an entrepreneur, this can be tricky for sure! But here’s how I’m doing it:
- I have my phone on do not disturb from 4:00 PM to 9:00 AM every day.
- I deleted every social media app off of my phone.
- I deleted the mail app off my phone.
- I changed the days that I offer appointments — phone calls, Zoom, in-person, etc. They’re all the same day and if the availability is gone, it’s gone. Guarding my time is so valuable (AND YOUR TIME!).
- I have a designated work spot — at the office, I obviously work in my office and at home, I work in my at-home office, nowhere else. Having this designated workplace is essential to help with work/life balance!
- I’ve been working on going to bed and waking up at the same time every day and my moods have improved drastically! I’m no longer distracted and thinking about work because honestly, I’m not wanting to pick up my phone at all after 4 PM anymore.
What’s something you are working on in the new year that you consider to be your new year resolution? I’d love for you to share yours in the comments. (:
Say thanks!
