How I Write 2000+ Words Per Day
I’ve hit 3000 words every day for the last 3 months

When I started writing regularly a couple of years ago, writing didn’t come naturally to me. It was tough. I read a lot though. I had thoughts and stories to tell. But translating them into words seemed like an impossible task. I barely managed 1000 words without feeling exhausted.
Well, over time this art became kinder to me. And I enjoy the process of formulating the thoughts into readable texts.
Writing can be time-consuming. When I talk about 2000 words, I don’t mean just spitting words on paper or screen.
Writing my diary
My day starts with my journal.
Our lives are filled with stories from the biscuits we ate with tea, to the person we met in the store. We can have stories if we want to. Else we can just let the days pass by and forget what happened a week ago.
I try my best to deconstruct all the small things that happened yesterday and write a page in the form of a story, first thing in the morning.
It usually takes around 2 hours to write those 200 words. Writing a diary has become second nature to me. It helps me clear my head and makes me ready to experience another day. I also know I’ve to be aware of the small things happening during the day to write about it the next morning.
That helps me live my days to the fullest.
Linkedin Posts
I write two posts per day on Linkedin. I’ve recently started doing it to experience other platforms and make myself heard. Around 100 words each, I write another 200 words. I post them once in the morning right after my journaling and once in the evening.
These articles are based on the topics I read every day ranging from personal development, self-help, and careers to trending news.
Writing these 200 words doesn’t take much time. But you have to consider the hours spent reading to get those 2 topics to write about each day. As I said, I read a lot.
Articles
I never have to think about the topics. I make a list of 50 possible headlines at the start of each month and I keep on writing them as long as I don’t get out of topics. Also, as I read articles and stories on the Internet, or get some interesting thoughts while reading a book, I note them down. They become my topic for some other day.
I publish at least one article every single day. It can range from 800–2000 words. There is no limit. I write as long as I am not done with the story.
This usually takes time. I write my first draft really fast and complete it before lunch then go back to edit it in the evening.
Giving yourself time between the writing and editing processes is key to better-finished articles.
The articles are published on various platforms with Medium being one of them.
Novel
At least 2 hours of my daily life is reserved for my novel. I usually write anywhere between 200–500 words just to keep myself going with the story.
It is the weekends when I focus more on the novel than the articles. I’m currently working on a thriller.
If you want to improve as a writer, the more you write the better. Practice makes you perfect.
As Stephen King said,
“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot. There’s no way around these two things that I’m aware of, no shortcut.”
