How I React to Low Views and Reads
Adapt and respond to the environment rather than expecting the environment to cate to your needs.
Introduction
Today, as part of my daily routine, I go to the study room to begin working on my new article. However, I face a significant challenge.
I have discovered that my followers, article views, and reads are significantly lower compared to writers who joined Medium after me. It is extremely discouraging for me to see writers who have only posted a few articles gaining more attention and engagement than I have.
Despite my consistent efforts of writing 3–4 articles per week, it seems that my progress on Medium has not aligned with my expectations. This finding has left me feeling disappointed and questioning whether I should continue writing on Medium.
Pride
As a qualified Accountant, I possess extensive knowledge and expertise in accounting and finance. I strongly believe that readers are naturally drawn to articles written by someone who has a deep understanding in a specific subject.
With this belief in mind, I am confident that if I were to write an article, readers would not only be interested in reading it but also be eager and willing to engage with it. I can’t help but wonder why people prefer reading content from others instead of articles written by a financial professional like myself.
I invest significant effort into my research and writing, so it is disheartening to see that my results are not meeting my expectations.
Think
Taking a deep breath, I begin to calm myself down. Suddenly, a voice echoes in my mind, urging me to activate my brain. It reminds me of a powerful phrase from the book “Rich Dad Poor Dad” that deeply resonated with me — “Our mind is a priceless asset.”
Feeling more at ease, I reflect on the knowledge I gained during my BBA degree. As a business graduate, I should recognize the importance of employing different strategies to effectively present my articles. I need to have various methods to increase views and attract more readers.
However, I realize that I rarely utilize my analytical thinking skills to explore these possibilities. Instead, I often find myself succumbing to feelings of jealousy towards others, without actively seeking ways to improve my current situation.
But now, with a clear understanding, I am determined to change my approach. I will harness the power of my mind, explore new methods, and find ways to improve my situation.

Reaction
The word “reaction” comes to mind.
I remember my teacher stressing the importance of being adaptable. It is my responsibility to adjust to the environment instead of expecting the environment to meet my needs.
If my current strategies aren’t producing the desired results, I need to engage my mind and think critically. I must reflect on why others are gaining more followers and why their articles are receiving more views and reads than mine. What are they doing differently and better?
As I think about these questions, it becomes clear that my confidence may have clouded my judgment. I have been relying too much on my professional qualification and overlooking the fact that writing is a completely different skill. Joining Medium has made me realize that I am a beginner in this field and there is much to learn.
To guide myself going forward, I use MindCanvas to write down key points and reminders. This exercise helps me acknowledge that I don’t inherently deserve more success than others. Instead, I need to prioritize self-improvement and continuously expand my knowledge. I believe that through constant growth, I can make significant strides on Medium.
