How I reached 100 Followers on Medium in 2 weeks

I’ve always had this thing for the Underdog… Probably because I consider myself one in the making, I thought,
“I will write my experience for the ones just starting, even if it’s no big deal” — It is, though.
Reaching 100 Followers in this short time is a big deal for me.
I have been a member with Medium since 2018. I never took it seriously, though. I mainly wrote in my journal or on my Writer’s Work blog and website. I never imagined that I could be paid for my hobby… so I set it aside.
I’ve been writing since I was eight years old. It was my childhood escape, and I often wrote fictional short stories. It was a way to see my big imagination come to life.
I am an academic junkie and am in school doing my Masters right now, so I did a few gigs in early 2018, writing academic research papers for students for pennies.
I quickly discovered that would not make me any money. — Figures…
So I gave it up. I rathered writing on my blog and journal for free, but at least it was stuff I enjoyed.
In the last four years, I have written some articles for various companies, sometimes received dollars, sometimes just for advertising exposure, but again nothing serious in which I could make a living.
Then this year, something magical happened. A miracle landed on my lap as If I waved a witch’s wand and manifested a dream come true.
Finally! These Spells I’ve been casting are working!
My inner witch, jumping for joy, I was offered to write under the Psychic Forum for Top10 and be paid decent — What?!

I realized then.
Wow — I can make a living with my passion!
My hobby came to life, and I realized I could live my dream.
So here I am, like a fire that lit under my tush; I looked at my Medium account and decided. It was about time to take it seriously.
As noted in the image above, I already had a following, but it was only 5–8 followers. At the end of June 2022, I took action and reached 108 followers in two weeks. Here is what I did:
I wrote an article daily
— I pretty much still am. Honestly, I aim to create an audience that will read my stuff, especially since I talk about more than just Tarot cards and Astrology. I also have education in Nutrition Sciences, Psychology and Fitness and various other subjects. So it’s best to write as much as possible to get your niche and writing style out there. That way, you can attract the right audience that will never leave you.
I was networking living on the Medium platform.

When I saw the opportunity that Medium could provide me and my business, I realized that these were the type of people I wanted to connect with. No matter who you are, on Medium, you have value to offer. You are writing about your experiences and knowledge and providing service. These are the type of people you want in your corner.
I give 50 claps when I read a story.
I was trying to explain to my mom, that one clap was an insult. Given that she is my mom, she should be supporting me with 50 claps. I feel she got the point, but she still fails to provide *klapki* (as she refers to them in my polish language) at the 50 mark. ;)
I give 50 claps when I read a story. I mean, why not? We all want exposure, we all want to be seen, and we all want our stories to be enjoyed and given recognition. Give 50 claps, it makes writers happy on Medium, and they will probably follow you, and if you are lucky, they will provide you with 50 claps in return.
Genuine comments that are real.
Luckily, my mom loves writing long essay format comments under my posts and probably other writers. If you are lucky, and my mom happens to stumble upon your article, chances are, if she likes it, she will write an article-long comment under your post about her thoughts (don’t worry, usually positive).
That is TRUE SUPPORT !!!
Writing genuine comments under other readers is the way to go if you want to grow your following on medium. Be open and honest. Sometimes your comments might be short, as it is all you need. Though you may sometimes desire to pour your heart out in those comments, you relate much more with something a writer wrote in their article. Comment! Your following will grow.
