How I Met Your Mother
With a twist

With undone eyebrows
and swollen eyelids,
I drag my blanket up
For yet another round of sleep!
She’s there lying beside…
Watching me sink into my bed
To the right of her side.
“Oh no, not again!
Beauty sleep is all fine,
Empty stomach is not!
So, it’s high time, let’s dine…”
Momos is her go-to meal,
A pizza here and there.
Cheese is what sticks us together
Even on days when
We don’t care!
And when it’s been long,
My hair all messy,
She drags me out with her pick-up line —
“Come babe, let’s click a selfie!”
Several years down the line,
When she’ll have got little kids
I’m gonna tell them a story —
“It was in the summer of 2019
I was walking with my dreams
Tucked inside a folder :
Bumped into a girl with glasses,
Cheeks chubby and thin eyelashes.
Strange was the land for me,
She knew it well before —
“The one who talked to me hasn’t turned up yet,
How about us sharing the room?”
She suddenly did implore.
She sounded earnest
And I gave in.
Nodding my head,
I can still say,
I’m glad I didn’t hunt for another;
Hygiene freaks that we are —
From broom-mates to room-mates
That’s how I met your mother!”
