How I Make $3,600 a Month as a Human Content Spinner

Two lucrative contracts pay my monthly bills

I pay all of my bills by spinning content for two lucrative freelance contracts. I often refer to myself as a “human content spinner.”

When I first started out on this venture, I had no idea what content spinning was, or how it even worked. All I knew is that my employer regularly “spun” the articles they submitted for clients.

I used to think that “spinning” was illegal — or, at the very least, unethical.

But then I developed a set of simple strategies to avoid plagiarism and make the content my own.

In this article, I’m going to share a few of those strategies.

What Is a Human Content Spinner?

If you’re confused by content spinning, just think about it as rewriting information from various sources that already exist online. I once heard a funny but interesting quote that applies here:

“Steal from one source and it’s called plagiarism. Steal from many sources and it’s called research.” — Anonymous

Now that we have that idea on the table, let’s dive into exactly how I make money with content spinning.

How I Got Started as a Human Content Spinner

I landed my contracts in two different ways. One, by networking with my friend groups. The other by working with a recruiter.

You can find good contacts by reaching out to the people you know. Even more importantly, the people that they know. You might be surprised by the opportunities that present themselves when you let your peripheral social circles (friends of friends) know that you are looking for work.

According to the American Journal of Sociology, if you want to find a job, look no further than your “weak ties” — those loose social connections bridged by your inner circle.

But if you don’t have a network, it’s easy to get started by working with a recruiter.

I personally found one on LinkedIn. Or, more precisely, she reached out to me. Once I gave her the “green light” to find me a job, the entire process was very passive on my part.

She’d get in touch a few times per week with job opportunities.

I’d follow up, interview, and leave the rest up to the recruiter. After a few months and a few interviews, I finally landed a really cool gig.

What I Actually Do as a Human Content Spinner

Sometimes my contracts seem so easy that I feel bad. I regularly get my contracts done in less than 1/2 the time.

That’s okay because they pay me by project completed not how long it takes.

It’s a huge win-win for both me and the two companies. The pay is excellent, much higher than my income working 40+ hours per week. I honestly wish that I had gone full-time as a freelancer years ago.

Here’s what I do as a human content spinner:

  • Gather information
  • Analyze information
  • Rewrite information

Gather content from various sources. Usually, I get information from several reputable websites or from other source material provided by my employers. Next, I analyze the data.

My analysis includes:

  • Establishing a baseline of facts
  • Collecting additional facts and statistics
  • Citing my sources

Finally, I rewrite the content using my own words and/or phrases, with enough variation and original content to avoid plagiarism.

This is exactly what my employers want me to do — reverse engineer content, distill it down to the facts and spin out new content with those facts.

This Is Exactly How To Spin Content

When I spin content, I create original content based on established facts.

To produce original content, I take the following steps:

  • Change the structure of the sentence
  • Rearrange the information in the sentence or list
  • Use different words that mean roughly the same thing
  • Chunk up to a more abstract vantage point
  • Chunk down to more specifics
  • Add new, original information from my research

The key is to follow the rules of proper grammar while keeping it simple. I try really hard not to look like a robot when I’m writing or talking about anything technical. My goal is to match the voice of the brand while translating complex ideas into laymen’s terms.

Facts and Statistics I Gather To Spin Out My Articles

When working as a human content spinner, these are the types of facts that you’ll be spinning:

  • Industry figures and statistics, such as market share and revenue. This is extremely important for writing about companies or stock options.
  • New product releases and reviews — this includes upcoming products and services.
  • New innovations or inventions — this could be anything from a new smartphone to a new app.
  • Cultural trends, such as fashion and design.
  • Research studies, such as clinical trials and medical findings.

How Much Does a Human Content Spinner Make?

The truth is that I make much more as a human content spinner than working close to 60 hours per week at my former job.

I’ve applied this business model for about two years now, and it has completely replaced my previous income. It’s also replaced the need to work anywhere else besides my home.

As a human content spinner, you can make $3K + per month. If you want more contracts than me (I only have two), then I’m confident you can make $5-$7K per month, maybe more.

For the first time in years, I own my schedule.

I also can save money, pay off debt, work out more, and travel. No, I’m not lounging on a yacht in the Caribbean, but I’m happy.

How Do You Become a Human Content Spinner?

All you need to do is reach out to your social circles, update your LinkedIn profile, and find a recruiter.

In my experience, the recruiters will find you. But, you can always proactively contact them first. Once you sign on with one, you let them do their job. Let the recruiter know how many hours and what pay rate you want.

Then, sit back and wait for the offers.

In the meantime, keep your day job or work on other side hustles. What I’m doing is working enough to cover my expenses and save, while funding other income streams, like my suite of niche websites.

Final Thoughts

I promise you it isn’t as hard as you might imagine. As long as you can write decent sentences and turn your projects in on time, you should be able to scale up your earnings pretty quickly.
