Summary

The author humorously recounts their journey to selling 4,000 copies of their eBook by manipulating Amazon's algorithm with the help of a friend and purchasing their own book with a loan from their father.

Abstract

The article titled "My eBook Sold 4,000 Copies. Here’s How You Can Do The Same" is a satirical piece on the ease of making money online. The author, with a tongue-in-cheek tone, describes how their father's belief in their writing talent spurred them to achieve the seemingly impossible: earning 500k from an eBook. The success is attributed to having a friend at Amazon prioritize their book in the algorithm, making it prominently visible to all users. Despite this, initial sales were lackluster, leading the author to take out a 500k loan from their father to buy four thousand copies of their own book, thereby boosting their sales figures and triggering the Amazon algorithm to promote the book further, resulting in residual income. The article concludes by suggesting that if the author could achieve this, anyone could, albeit with a disclaimer that the content is fictional and for entertainment purposes only.

When I was a kid, my father looked me in the eye and said I would accomplish great things someday.

“I know that you’re going to become a bestselling author. You’re just so talented… it’s inevitable!”

Unsurprisingly, my father was correct. I recently accomplished something that many people said was impossible: making $500k selling an eBook on Amazon.

Here‘s how I did it:

I Asked A Friend At Amazon To Prioritize My Book In The Algorithm

Most people who release a new book have to put a lot of effort into sales and marketing. But as you can already tell, I’m not like most people because I have a friend at Amazon who prioritized my book in the algorithm.

Everyone who logged into Amazon saw my book on the front page. It was in bright, bold letters with a giant arrow saying “buy now.” And, of course, it had a reasonable price of $125.

Some of you may be thinking, “that’s a little expensive.” I’m empathetic to the fact that you’re not used to recognizing artistic talent when it’s placed right in front of you. That’s okay. But keep this in mind: It’s the best $125 anyone has ever spent. Trust me.

Anyway, despite my eBook being placed in front of millions of people, it wasn’t getting as many sales as I hoped. That was a shame. So, I asked my father for a small loan of $500k and did what anyone else would do in the same situation.

I Purchased Several Thousand Copies Of My Own Book

I’ll be honest: This wasn’t my preferred method of generating half a million dollars in revenue. It would have been much nicer if everyone just purchased a copy of my book for $125. Oh well.

After asking my father for a $500k loan with 0% interest and an indefinite repayment period, he deposited the money into my bank account the following day. Then, I used every cent to purchase four thousand copies of my eBook on Amazon.

Within a matter of hours, my book skyrocketed to the top of the book charts on Amazon. Then, once I reached $500k in revenue, the algorithm did the rest, and I received a few thousand dollars per month in residual income. Yay.

I made over $500k by purchasing several thousand copies of my own Ebook and asking a friend to prioritize it in the algorithm. Of course, such a large amount of money online might seem difficult. But I’ve done it. Which means you can, as well.
