How I got my first 20 followers on Medium

The beginning of something big…

I, reluctantly, started writing on Medium 2 weeks ago. I say, reluctantly, because I had little idea what I was doing and I was scared of bad writing, failing, what my friends would think, etc, etc.

Truth is I was scared cause…what the heck was I doing? Starting to write on Medium and hope to add to people’s lives and improve as a writer and succeed on the platform…. Wow, I was taking a leap…. But, I do that a lot. Funny how it never gets easier, lol…. Still scared and everyday is work and faith!

I am a musician and have written many of my own songs, but this was a little new to me. I’ve also kept a personal journal.

I wanted to work hard. I wanted to learn a lot. And, I wanted to succeed on Medium. But, like I said before, I didn’t know very much about writing or blogging.

I did a lot of research, reading, and would like to mention a few people who have taught me a lot. Zulie Rane, Tim Denning, and Zat Rana. They gave me a lot of great lessons, info, and cheerleading. It really helped me to persevere. Thanks!

I am now at the next level of growth. I have gotten 20 followers today on my way to 100. And beyond.

The advice that really helped me along my journey has worked.

A few tips I got are:

  • Write every day.
  • Give your audience great, helpful, content that they can use in their life.
  • Spend a lot of time creating the right title that gives your audience your topic in a way that makes them care.
  • Don’t be afraid of being honest about your life so readers can really know who you are and where you are coming from.
  • Proofread your article out loud and make sure it is clear and concise.

I’ve tried to do all of the tips above and hope that it shows in my writing. Writing every day may seem scary but it really helps to learn how to write better. Especially, if you pay attention and try to improve your next work.

The next step of growth is to learn how to properly submit my work to different publications. I want to diversify my writing more. I also want to be able to give more useful information, in a clear way, to the reader.

I am very excited about working toward the next level of growth. I look forward to sharing all of the new tips that I learn with you in that article. I also look forward to reading and getting to know even more great writers out there who have so much to teach me about growing as a writer.

To all who have taken the time to read, clap, comment, and follow my work, I say thank you!

Wow, I’ve gotten so far in a few weeks but realize that it is only the tip of the iceberg. (I type anxiously!)

Happy writing and reading to all of you out there.

peace,

I’d like to humbly thank everyone who has enjoyed, clapped and followed me. Blessings to those who have donated by clicking on this link. thank you! :)
