How I Gained 94 New Followers in 8 Days and Thank You to My First 100+ Followers

For me, I am not only joyful but also excited and thankful. Who would imagine a stay-at-home parent could make it to the 100 followers within two months (I started writing on 25 December 2022).

Read other people’s articles
In the online writing world, it is not just all about writing.
As a beginner writer, I am still learning much from others, more prominent and seasoned writers. I read and connected with many of their stories.
Reading their articles expands my horizons with multiple options for my next articles.
Their stories will give me insights for my next step.
Be sincere
In January 2023, I published 3 stories ranging from 4 to 5 minutes of read time.
I spent much of my time pouring my heart into writing those stories. Sharing my best tips, step-by-step screenshots, and researching the answers aiming to help my readers shortcut their way to success.
The result was rather disappointing.
I gained one (1) new subscriber.
I learned the hard way that the number of hours you put into writing doesn’t translate to subscribers or views. So, I tried something new in February, which is
Network. Network. Network.
There is a basic rule to network. You must be sincere.
What I did and will continue doing after reading their stories is providing genuine comments from my understanding of their stories. If you are receiving my comments, I believe you understand what I meant.
It is not the one-liner comment:
- Good article
- Thanks for sharing
- Nice tips
- Great ideas
The writers will understand your sincerity; if your writing resonates with them, they will follow you. Simple and easy to implement.
This leads to the next secret.
The power of your profile message
Will you follow a stranger, full of unshaved and unorganized mustaches?
Or will you follow a stranger who is a pretty lady or handsome man going around without a clear destination?
I won’t for both scenarios.
Everyone is very busy trying to achieve their career or personal goals. They will not randomly follow others. Some would show support to others. But the majority won’t.
Try to give your new friends a glimpse to understand what you are writing about that will help them. It can be educational or even entertaining.
I believe your clear profile message would push the people sitting on the fence to click the “follow” button.
