How I gained 7,000 views overnight!
Seriously I was so shocked!
I never thought I’d be writing this article! The past couple of weeks even months have been challenging when it came to finding the motivation to write. I’ve tried everything! I mean everything. I looked up prompts on google, I read some superb poetry on ILLUMINATION as well as thought-provoking articles, I even distracted myself by creating a YouTube channel to maybe lift the pressure I felt of needing to write something meaningful and worth reading. I felt like I writer's block had a relentless grip on me. As a writer, I know you can probably relate!
Imagine my surprise when I woke up one morning and found a jaw-dropping surprise. I usually make a habit of not checking my stats. Checking your stats can be discouraging, especially when you equate the views you get to the quality of your work. I’m here to tell you please, please do not make a habit of checking your stats every day, week, or even month, just write. Write for the love of writing knowing that there is someone who will value you it regardless of the views it receives. Your writing will find the right reader, it will eventually garner the attention you believe it deserves but in the meantime get excited about writing, so much so that you forget the need to check the views it receives.
I received the most views on a poem I didn’t even want to publish.
A poem that sat in my drafts for weeks on end. If I had known this would be the one poem that would garner the most attention I would’ve jumped at the opportunity to post it. The reality is you never know which article, poem, piece will be your next great success. Treat every post with love and watch the return you receive on it. I can’t promise that it will be today, tomorrow, or a year from now but maybe one day you’ll understand that every piece you write is valuable, it is needed, and it will be a success but first you have to believe it will be. It starts with you. This is me telling you don’t give up hope. Your next post can be an incredible success!
