How I Found 100 followers on Medium in TEN DAYS!
Hi folks.
I’ve been a member of Medium for the last eleven days.
I posted my very first erotic short story eleven days ago.
I read about folks making money on Medium for the very first time from Medium erotica writing legend Bella Cooper.
So I started looking into Medium. I read articles and did my homework.
It took me a while to make up my mind to do it. I’m a little slow sometimes. I think too damn hard before taking any sort of action.
I’m careful.
I procrastinate.
I’ve looked at Medium from both sides now, from win and lose, but still somehow…
Oh shit.
I’m having a Karaoke flashback.
Forgive me.
Let’s get back to talking about Medium.
I’m going to tell you folks all about how I managed to gather 100 followers in ten days flat.
Why am I telling you all of my hard-won secrets?
Why?
BECAUSE I AM A RIVER TO MY PEOPLE!
The first thing I did when I decided to join Medium was to sign up and become a paying member. That’s right. If you WANT to make your mark here at Medium you need to lay your money down and get into it.

That was March 15th, 2022.
That very same day I placed my first sexy story here in Medium.
That same day I spent some time on research, checking out other Medium writers and seeing how they were making a go of it. If I liked what they were doing, well, I followed them.
I followed them and I read a story or two from each of the writers I liked and I left a comment. I did a whole lot of clapping. I highlighted some of their nifty lines in their stories and articles. I left some of them responses.
Usually I said something like “Hi. I’m new here. I’ve three and a half followers, counting my cat. Do you have any sort of advice for a new writer here at Medium who is trying to gather up the necessary 100 followers to show the folks here at Medium that I can definitely be a contributing member of their big happy family.”
A lot of those folks followed me back.
So that was a start.
One of the first authors I came across here was Eli Casablanca.
His advice was “Follow people. Search for “Erotica”, “Sex”, “Erotic Fiction” and check out the authors you like and follow them. Follow a LOT of them. Some of them will follow you back.”
So that’s what I did, for starters.
So follow Eli Casablanca, will you folks?
I also met May More.
She told me about her publication TANTALIZING TALES.
Her advice was to “Look for like-minded publications, such as TANTALIZING TALES. Look for publications that are looking for stories told by other authors and other voices. This will get you a lot of followers who are ACTIVE READERS!!!”
See, all of my author followers aren’t necessarily going to be taking time to read my stories. They’re way too busy trying to write new stories themselves for Medium.
BUT…if you can write a story that suits the needs of publications that actively publish other author’s other stories, then that gives you the opportunity to have actual honest-to-eyeball readers reading your work and following you here on Medium.
So that’s my next step of my plan. I’ve got a story I’m working on for May More’s publication, TANTALIZING TALES. I’ve just got to get off my ass and onto my writing chair long enough to write a story.
(And ACTUALLY, she accepted a story from me, which should be turning up in a week or two…or three…you can’t rush publishers. And, just to keep things honest, I actually sent her TWO stories. The first story she said — I like it, but not that much — which was kind of like “Okay, I like you as a friend, but… BUT, did I let that stop me? Did I get dejected, bummed out and give up? NO FUCKING WAY! First rule of Writing Club — grow yourself a fucking thick hide. Nobody is going to like EVERYTHING you write. So write more. Write better. Write often!)
And if you really dig wild darkly fantastic tales of erotica — follow Tantalizing Tales as well!
Lastly, I want to tell you to check out this article- EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HOW MEDIUM PAYS ITS WRITERS. I’m not going to try and paraphrase the advice that author gives but I’d whole heartedly recommend you check the article out and follow that author as well.
So — what is my next step?
Well, I’m just going to keep on writing for now. I intend to do my best to have at least ONE new story or article or even a sexy poem (and yes, smut-peddlers such as myself CAN write poetry) up here on my Medium page EVERY SINGLE FREAKING DAY THIS YEAR!
That’s my New Year’s resolution almost three months too late.
If you want to do what I’m trying to do, my advice to you is to slap your money on the table and sign up to be an active member of Medium. There is a shit-ton of stories and articles to read, and if you’re a writer of any sort of ability, you just might want to take a stab at seeing what you can do as a writer here on Medium.
So — CLICK THIS LINK if you’d like to read everything on the platform for $5 a month. The membership fee directly supports me and other writers you read.
Bye for now!
