There is continuous debate about the 9–5 jobs over the years with the increase in alternate income generation sources through e-commerce.

Multiple Income generation streams have lucrative offers for the individuals to spend time as per their choices and work accordingly.

Every one of us must give it a go-to create multiple income streams once at least to bring the best out of us.

My Story

Blowing with the wind like others, in the latter part of the year 2019, I decided to try my luck to generate multiple income streams. I aimed to ease out my financial requirements along with getting rid of the 9–5 job routine.

2020 was the whole year I pursued different kinds of side hustles to generate persistent income streams. I tried them to a certain level. I must say I learned quite a bit.

I will discuss them in the coming lines and share my experience with the following.

1- Commodity future trade.

2- Writing on Medium

3- Fiverr

4- Up-work

5- Stock Photography

1- Commodity future trading.

While I was looking for making some choice about e-commerce decision. I came to a cross-commodity future trading idea.

I’m a business graduate dealing in finances over the years. Considering my background in finance and interest in reviews and news etc, I backed myself to the business.

Initially, I did not take into consideration the number of heavy commissions of the brokers and I had to pay hefty amounts.

Secondly, it was the Covid-19 that hit adversely on the commodity markets like Gold and Oil.

Key Point

One has to take proper information before entering.

2- Writing on Medium

Writing on Medium can be considered as my best decision only as far as we don’t consider the income generation. I had the privilege to meet great minds at Medium. It allowed me to share my thoughts with several readers and gave me a sense of independence.

However, financially it wasn’t a great run. I couldn’t write as I would like to and as I planned. Yet, Medium is close to my heart and I keep on reading different writers and try to write whenever I feel like writing.

I have not put my pen aside and I’m going to carry this as far as I can even it is not giving me financial support but allowing me to express myself.

Key Point

You’ve to keep going as long as you can.

3- Fiverr

Fiverr is one of the biggest freelance forums and millions of people are attached to it.

In July 2020 while I was in pursuit to find a settling place in the freelance market, I landed on this forum and registered myself.

Initially, I was excited about the process and continued to log in and send buyers requests to don’t know how many.

However, with every passing day, it was getting tough for me and my orders from the buyers were never meant to come.

Around the end of the year 2020, I received an anonymous buyer who asked me for the work. It was very unexpected for me but yet, it was true and I made my first $ 100/- from that work. I was over the moon.

Just at the end of the 1st work, I got contacted by another buyer who sent me a couple of orders for $ 15/- each. The amount was low but I cherished both of them. By the end of almost a month, I had 6 completed orders. My happiest month of freelancing journey.

Key Point

You must keep going with the optimistic approach. Your time will come.

4- Up-work

In mid-2020 I was looking for a freelance stage, I found some recommendations about the up-work so I registered myself at the forum.

It’s been more than 8 months on the forum. I regularly apply for jobs and remained energetic over the period to get work from the buyers. But, I have not got any success on Up-work as yet.

I’ve sent more than 60 job applications to the potential buyers only not to hear back from them. I have the firm belief that those applications aren’t the rejected applications, but the knowledge of not getting the job through, and I’ve to improve my submissions in a better way for the next ones.

Key Point

You must keep going with the optimistic approach. Your time will come.

5- Stock Photography

While I studied different freelancing projects, I loved the idea of stock photography. I got registered with Shutterstock. I loved photography and have a habit of capturing moments just randomly since my childhood. I have around 200K pictures captured by me mostly in raw form.

It was quite relatable to my interest and my day-to-day life. I pursued it and registered myself.

I have uploaded a few of my photographs over Shutterstock and waiting for someone to get a look at them to pay for them. Indeed, I haven’t earned income from Shutterstock, but it has still engaged me and kept me interested.

Someone interested in stock photography can register with Shutterstock using my referral link (It’s up to you only). Shutterstock may pay me for referral commission as per their policy.

Key Point

I’ve been looking forward to increasing the number and quality of my submissions to get it going.

Final Thoughts

All of the above freelancing forums have enormous potential and scores of people are earning from these forums.

It was my first year pursuing my ideas and I wasn’t up to the mark though I had glimpses of success from time to time.

There is no point in losing hope in the chase for your dream and I’m positive from day one that I will give them a proper try.

I know there are multiple income streams that one can try. I’m looking forward to hearing any suggestions from the seniors to assist me in this regard as well.
