How I Created a System to Support My Writing Goals for 2024

A behind-the-scenes look at my plans for 2024

I have been working hard this last week to finalize my writing business system for 2024. Why so early? I decided I should have this set in stone before January 1.

Thankfully, I had focused time on finalizing my plans for 2024, and I thought I would share them with you to help give you an idea of what they look like.

Let’s jump right in…

Capture: Daily Content Creation

*DISCLAIMER: I create a lot of content in bulk, so it is easy to create and publish content daily on multiple platforms.*

In 2024 I will create daily content on Medium, X, and Instagram. This content will be created to capture followers and email subscribers for my three writing niches. It will be a lot of short-form content and some repurposed content.

Another source of daily content will be found with Self-Publishing Daily. This is a Monday through Friday atomic email that shares the best self-publishing content I can find, and it will highlight self-published authors and books.

All of this content will point people to my weekly content found on Substack.

Focus: Weekly Content Creation

I will write three weekly posts on my Substack Publications: J.R. Heimbigner, Coffee with Jesus, and A Thriving Life Publication. These will be long-form posts that will be repurposed to Medium too.

There will be more in-depth content (like this post), and will often point toward my books and products found on Amazon, Gumroad, and Payhip. In 2024, Coffee with Jesus will be my only Substack that will have a paid option.

All of this content will contribute and move toward products and books.

Projects: Books and Products

I aim to expand my book catalog on Amazon a great deal. I have eight published books, a journal, and a planner. I aim to double my offerings on Amazon with low content, medium content, and longer books.

I also plan to package some great information I have found and experienced regarding my niche writing areas. As these come together, I will sell them on the available platforms.

It seems like a complicated system, however, it is completely set up now.

Final Thoughts on Writing Systems

I know that creating under three niches is a crazy idea. However, I’ve found that much of this content will start in a long-form format and can be broken down into shorter pieces for the different platforms.

I also plan to use a lot of the long-form content to build the books and products over time, so it isn’t creating a ton of new content every week.

And because I do batch-create a lot of my content, the idea is to build up several articles and posts every week in case something comes up. The other nice thing is I have a bit more margin to do this, which I haven’t had over the last couple of years.

All that to say, I know it is ambitious, but it is possible.

What are your plans for content creation in 2024?
