How I Could Astral Travel After Smoking DMT & Realised We Know Nothing

Our reality is not the only reality

DMT (N, N-Dimethyltryptamine) is known as the world’s most powerful hallucinogenic. It gained popularity since the general rise of interest in psychedelics, like LSD, mescaline, and magic mushrooms. DMT can be found in ayahuasca, a toad, or in other types of plants.

It is so powerful because many people experience ‘ego-death’. You basically die, enter into a different Universe and come back again reborn. Many people are not afraid of real death anymore after using this drug, since they realize that there is much more life after dying. My own DMT experience didn’t involve ego death, but it did reveal some other interesting insights.

The DMT kaleidoscope

The DMT that I smoked came from a plant and is generally known to be milder than the ‘God Molecule’ 5-MeO-DMT coming from a toad (or bufo/Sapo). It is still a very powerful psychedelic though. As soon as I inhaled the stuff into my lungs, I entered into an endless spectacle of geometrical forms and figures.

I could best describe them as a kaleidoscope on steroids.

Everything was moving so fast and vividly and thousands of colors flashed in front of my eyes non-stop. It was kind of like a 2D experience. The triangles and squares and pyramids and all the other moving forms seemed to be projected onto a wall that slowly moved further away from me.

I wanted to stay close, but I couldn't help getting disconnected from it. Then my whole body started to vibrate like I was having hypothermia. I remember thinking about whether I was actually cold, or if my body was ‘resetting’.

The trembles moved all over my body, and even my tongue trembled. It felt like some outer force was cleansing me from bad vibrations all over me.

I was strangely aware of my surroundings as well. I could hear what was going on in the area I was laying in and wondered if I might look stupid or if people could notice my vibrating body.

So much love to give

When I started to slowly come out of the visualizations, a dog came to lay next to me. I suddenly felt the incredible urge to hug it, but I felt weird about it. I am a very non-physical person and I feel awkward when people come physically close to me. But I couldn’t stop myself from hugging this dog.

And when I did, I realized we as humans have so much love to give. To animals, to plants, to other humans.

The whole purpose of this life is to love, and we have an infinite amount to share.

Our own fears and conditioning keep us from sharing that love. Thinking we might be strange or inadequate. It suddenly appeared to me that life is so joyful, and I was thinking about what others think of me way too much.

The best version of yourself that you can be, is your authentic self. You don’t have to hide any part of who you really are. This is also why I am sharing this story publicly, I am not ashamed anymore to share my insights that psychedelics have brought me (sorry mum and dad!).

Second dose of DMT

When I opened my eyes again, I exchanged stories with the people around me. They’ve had profound experiences and some of them even the infamous ego-death. I wanted to experience that too! My trip was highly visual and beautiful, but I didn’t go as deep as the others, which is a good thing for your first time using DMT.

The second dose was slightly higher; I inhaled as much as I could and got hit with the same visuals as the first trip. I was a bit disappointed.

Where were the profound lessons I was looking for?

But then I realized I could play with the visuals. I could use them in any way that I wanted. And then I got projected into another psychedelic trip that I did while traveling in Asia 10 years ago.

Astral travel

I heard about astral travel before, but never really experienced it to this extent. I suddenly understood that that was what I was doing. I could literally travel to every psychedelic memory that I’ve had in my life and be there physically.

I could walk around the full moon parties in Thailand, smell the same smells and talk to the same people. I was there again in another version of myself.

I could actively choose where I wanted to go to. I could even go underwater! It felt like I was flying around the world where space and time don’t exist. It was incredibly beautiful and it reminded me that I should spend more time being playful in my real life as well.

The insights

Even though I didn't get the deep insights that others often talk about after DMT, it did reveal some things to me. Being the most memorable one that we just don’t know. We don’t know anything.

There are definitely other worlds and Universes out there, but we don’t know what they are. We don’t know why we are on Earth. We don’t know what the purpose of life is. We don’t know why good and evil exist. We don’t know why some people experience things other than us. We simply don’t know the meaning of life.

But what we do know, is that life is incredibly beautiful. This planet is magical. It really is a playground for humanity. Who could ever create such immense perfection in the mountains, the deserts, the oceans, the forests, the jungles, the caves?

There has got to be more. There is no other explanation. We live in this reality right now, but many more realities exist. You are born and you die and you come back as somebody else again.

Matrix society

If you have never taken any form of psychedelics, it might be hard to comprehend this. We are living our lives based on our egoic minds. They try to protect us from getting out of our comfort zone. They make us addicted to being consumers. To endlessly chase something external, something outside of ourselves.

But if psychedelics taught me one thing; it’s that everything is to be found within. All that you are craving, you already have. Our matrix society thrives on external things. That’s where the money and the power come from.

Imagine if everyone on this planet would know that you can be happy without any of that stuff? Our whole economy would collapse. We suddenly don’t buy into the false expectation created by clever marketing techniques anymore.

Because the truth is, once you have that thing you were craving so much, another thing will come up. That’s just how the ego works. It doesn’t want to leave any room for introspection, because that would mean meeting your darkest shadows.

But even your shadows are there to love you. They could be remnants of ancestral or generational trauma. But you have the power to bring them to the light and change your destiny.

And I think that is exactly what plant medicine and psychedelics came here to do.

They tell us that we are already perfect the way we are.

If you are interested in trying psychedelics, I highly recommend you do it with experienced people or shamans. They know this type of medicine and can guide you through it. These experiences can be very profound, and you should be totally ready for them.
