How Fragile We Are
Six Word Photo Story: Freestyle
Looking out for the last time
It could have easily inspired Louis Comfort Tiffany. Sunbathed, richly colored vegetation sparkled beyond the framed antique glass. The hand-rolled glass showed imperfections that gave it character. Looking through it, there was enough distortion to seem unreal, yet clear enough to sustain detail. Standing in the relative coolness of the room, looking out to the burning midday sun, felt surreal. Two environments separated by a thin layer of silica.
I immediately fell in love with this place. My niece’s farm in central Chile is a very special place. It would be easy to embellish this story with a description of what lies beyond this triptych window. Easier still would be to describe the love and effort that went into building the structure that sustained it.
That an earthquake brought it down to its knees is almost incomprehensible.
