Summary

The website content discusses the importance of attitude in determining how one responds to and feels about life's events, using the humorous example of dropping a brick on one's foot to illustrate the point.

Abstract

The article emphasizes that while external events can affect our mood, it is our attitude that ultimately shapes our emotional response. It suggests that individuals have the power to choose their attitude, which in turn influences their feelings and actions. The author uses the metaphor of dropping a brick on one's foot to demonstrate that even in the face of physical pain, a person's attitude can dictate their experience, whether they react with anger, laughter, or a mix of both. A challenge is posed to readers to start their day with a positive affirmation about their attitude towards life, with the belief that this practice can significantly improve their daily experiences. The author also encourages readers to reflect on the impact of attitude on their overall well-being and to explore more of their writings on the subject.

How Do You Feel When You Drop A Brick On Your Foot?

Yes, I know, that title is weird. But, it’s all about ATTITUDE! Read to find out what I mean.

Let’s focus on ATTITUDE a bit, shall we?

Have you ever heard someone say, “I’m in a good mood” or “I’m in a bad mood!”? The mood they are in is their excuse for their attitude, which some people say is silly.

Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it. — Lou Holtz

If you really stop and think about it, how you feel doesn’t control your attitude, your attitude controls how you feel. And who controls your attitude? YOU DO! Yes folks, it’s that simple!

For instance, let’s say you drop a brick on your foot. Chances are, it’s going to hurt. How you handle what follows is totally up to you and your attitude. You can get mad and yell, or you can just laugh it off and tough out the pain. Or, you can yell and laugh at the same time! How you do it determines how you feel.

The end result is you probably feel pain in your foot, regardless of your attitude. But, a good positive attitude will help get through the day without another mishap than a negative attitude, wouldn’t you agree?

Here’s a challenge I’ll propose to you for the next two weeks. Every time you get out of bed, clap your hands and say out loud…”It’s a great day and I have a wonderful attitude towards life!”. Then, see if just saying that little phrase will change the way you feel for the rest of the day.

Let me know how that works out for you!

I know this is a bit different than other articles I’ve written, but I like to mix things up occasionally. I’ll link to more of my writings below.
