How Do You Capture a View This Beautiful?
The Blue Mountains took my breath away
When I got off a two-hour train ride to visit the Blue Mountains, I couldn’t wait to see the gorgeous views for the first time.
Little did I know, however, that it would be one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

This rock formation, known as the Three Sisters, was my true first glimpse of the Blue Mountains.

The view left me absolutely speechless. The more I looked, the more I felt a wave of awe come over me.
And it was here I started to wonder: How do I begin to capture something so beautiful? Will my photos do it justice?
I am no photographer, but I couldn’t help at least try to capture the breathtaking beauty of the mountains anyway.

The park stretched endlessly, densely packed with lush green trees and the signature blue haze that the mountains are known for.
We saw dots of white and knew that they were the wonderful cockatoo birds flying around the treetops below.
I honestly could have spent hours just standing there and taking in the view.
Eventually, though, we decided to head out on a hike. The path felt as though it was built into the mountain range. It was often steep with lots of stairs or narrow pathways.

I was surprised quite a few parts lacked a railing, even with a large drop to the side.
Still, the hike was stunning. The walk gave us an even better look at the untouched beauty of the Blue Mountains.
There were frequent places to stop or take in the view. I took my time so that I could fully appreciate the natural scenery, instead of rushing through it.

I also found myself glancing up at the spectacular trees too.
Everything, from the treetops and clear blue sky to the sandstone rocks and mountain ranges, was a gift to my sense of sight.

During our hike, we saw one of the cable cars take a group of tourists across the mountain range.
Considering how many people they packed on the cable car, I was happy to remain on the ground and marvel at its progress to the other side.

At the end of the hike, we came to Katoomba Falls.
Here, we sat on a bench and watched the water cascade down the brown rocks. We listened to the sounds of children laughing as they waded into the water alongside the soothing rhythm of the waterfall.

As the day drew to a close, we walked back to Katoomba train station. Our feet were tired, but our minds felt so fulfilled.
That’s what a day surrounded by nature can do.
The Blue Mountains nourished my soul.

A cockatoo greeted us by the tracks.
Perhaps, he was one of the same birds who had been flying around the Blue Mountains just a few hours before?

On the train ride back to Sydney, I scrolled back through some of my photos. They weren’t all perfect, but they were a snapshot of that moment and those feelings of wonder.
How do you capture a day filled with so much beauty?
How do you capture anything?
Now, I know the answer: you just have to start.
