How can Working Parents take care of themselves during this pandemic?
Simple tips on how to manage stress during these challenging times
I am a father of 3 daughters, married with a busy wife, and I work from home full-time! And just like you and your family, we are effectively trying to juggle our family life and our career during this quarantine.
After almost one year of pandemic, It’s evident for everybody that it’s quite challenging, but just like me, you can make it easier on yourself by focusing on some simple principles. Instead of aiming for perfection, let’s aim for happiness.
Our life changes sometimes affect us deeply, and we can feel like we are not good at changing quickly to adapt to every new change.
And accepting this, we are trying to keep the right mindfulness and understand that our days rarely go as we planned, especially my wife’s days for the demands of our children, that change everything at every moment.
Learning from our mistakes
I love my wife’s openness when it comes to mistakes. She does not dwell on her mistakes, but she actually takes the opportunity to learn from them. We are learning a lot during this time from each other.
And that’s my point here. We can learn a lot from this period. If we look around, there are endless meaningful patterns in the mistakes we make every day, and the right question here is: how can we adapt and learn from them?
There are tons of online articles on how to be more productive during the pandemic, how much sleep and exercise we should get, or how we as parents could provide our children with a better online learning experience.
Find what works for you
My question is: are these recommendations helping you during these challenging times in your life? If your answer is “Yes,” then yes, you should go ahead. But if your answer is “No” or you are at all unsure, just let it go. Find time to understand your family’s needs, take care of them and find time to meditate and smile.
We need to find ways to turn these stressful moments into light-hearted ones — whenever we can. For sure we will be more productive and focused on our work activities, after all.
