Racism/Injustice

How Can I Learn about Injustice and Racism?

What can I learn from the recent development in the USA?

Recently I got comments on stories about using the word ‘coloured’ instead of using the word ‘black’. It was a comment that stayed with me overnight and I was thinking about it a lot the last few days.

I will do better, I promise. I am learning. Thanks to those who made me think about it.

I also want to say something about why I used it as I have learnt it in school. That could be wrong, I don’t know.

My teacher of social studies told the class that there are also other people with a light-dark skin tone who were not felt included in those black people’s discussions. According to my teacher in secondary school, these people were Morrocan people and Asian people as well, from whom she said they wanted to be included too. I don’t know if she was right. But I am confused right now.

So, now I’m a little bit confused about what it is, I think, I have to be cleared for one.

I’m learning how to interact with black people. So I am trying to do it this way, starting here with comments on my story.

I know I’m not perfect but I believe that I have to read personal stories. I love this platform so much that I want personal stories from black people, here so I will understand one day.

I have so many questions, in no particular order, but I don’t know if they’re the right one. But I’ll give it a try.

The questions I have:

  • What is the difference between black and coloured people?
  • What have you been through that white people should definitely know?
  • What is politics do about the problems and what should they do better?
  • As a human being what actions should white people need to do?
  • How do live black people and how was that in the past?
  • How do black people have been raised? What was their youth like?
  • What should white people need to know about those problems?
  • Do we have to include people such as Asian and Moroccan people too in this conversation? And why should we and why shouldn’t we? They’re also a darker skin tone?
  • Which books and (online) articles should I read about racism and injustice?
  • How can white people teach their children about racism and injustice?
  • What is expects black people from white people?

There will be probably more things white people should know and should ask. These questions are the ones I thought of in the first place.

Please, I love if you comment and start here a conversation about it.

Feel free to add anything valuable to let me, and other white people, understand the problem. Please keep everything positive. I’m just asking as I want to learn more about racism and injustice. So I thought to start this conversation here.

Feel free to tag people you might think they will say anything valuable.

Yes, there would be a chance that I will get hateful comments, but if we don’t start a conversation, then we will going nowhere, I believe.

I’d love to hear from you.
