How an Inmate Became a Multi-Million Dollar Fitness Coach
The path and power of consistent daily action.

Wes Watson’s story from 10 years incarcerated to a multi-million dollar fitness coach is truly amazing.
This is a man that spent 10 years locked up in prison, an environment that completely destroys the will of a person. Regardless of what you were before entering, 10 years in prison usually sends a man spiraling in one of two directions — long-term/permanent incarceration or death due to drugs, violence, or some combination of the two.
Wes Watson overcame this environment to emerge as a high-demand fitness coach preaching the value of showing up every day. His core message has inspired millions to buy into his program — if I can do it locked up for 10 years, so you can you with unlimited resources in comparison.
“As I love to say, the man who takes more pride in the steps to attain the result than the result itself cannot be stopped. The work truly instills the worth.” — Wes Watson
What’s interesting about Wes is that he used his time in solitary to build and refine his core values. He decided to use this environment to his advantage and was able to draw inspiration from everything around him.
For example, he tells the story of another inmate that inspired his daily commitments and legendary discipline. The inmate’s name was Jammer, and he was famous for being the first person to report to kitchen duty (a feat he was able to do daily for 14 years straight):
“Jammer would work the scullery, washing dishes for eight to fourteen hours. And he’d do that shit with a smile on his face…He looked forward to it because he saw the work itself as a gift; it brought peace and contentment to his heart. From that moment forward, I knew I would aim to be the most consistent man alive as long as I lived.” — Wes Watson
Jammer was the first to show up to wash dishes every day for eight to fourteen hours, and he did this every single day for 14 years.
Wes was inspired by this and also noticed how the correction officers were impacted by Jammer’s consistency. The fact that a cop even noticed his consistent daily action proved to Wes that there was a certain power in being highly disciplined. The man who does something longer and harder than others would gain respect, regardless if he was a dishwasher in prison.

How to Stay Consistent in Your Life
What Wes noticed that day not only became the guiding light for his life, it became the path to his now current multi-million dollar coaching business.
People look to Wes to help change their life through fitness not because of his advanced training knowledge or list of certifications, they do it because he shows them how to be consistent.
His clients are inspired by his story and his unwillingness to give up. He was locked up for 10 years with no weights, no training facility, no kitchen, no protein powders and pre-workouts, or fancy apparel, but he left with a physique that would match most celebrity fitness influencers.
“My true intentions are to show you all the following: don’t f*ing get caught up in the bullshit life based on perpetual pleasure-chasing that leads to ten years, if not a lifetime, of just torture, like I did. Stay focused, choose the correct daily habits, and you will go straight to the top.” — Wes Watson
Keep Moving to Stop Quitting
Wes is big on what he calls “energy exchanges,” and it makes sense at the most fundamental level of what it means to be human. We should keep moving, regardless of what we encounter and in spite of how we feel. We should lean on our actions to dictate the energy levels that steer us toward the correct path.
When a problem is created, we are using and acting on a set of mindsets, beliefs, and attitudes. As we grow and become more aware of how we think and feel, we will begin to unlock a higher level of consciousness.
“You don’t have a money issue; you have an issue with discipline and an issue with being able to sacrifice. You don’t have a f*ing fitness issue; you have an issue with discipline and an issue with being able to sacrifice.” — Wes Watson
Discipline Comes First
I can’t imagine the type of negativity that may consume a man that is facing 10 years of prison. Wes is open about this aspect of his process. Defeating a negative mindset was the first step in how he became the person he is today, and he used a hyper-disciplined routine to do it.
“I got up every morning at 2:45 AM. I went straight into some positive reading, then directly into a workout. I conducted myself like the man I admired. If I didn’t put my whole heart into that workout, If I failed to fully achieve a flow state during my routine, I knew I had to focus more and let go. I was preparing every day because life was coming and I would be ready mentally and physically.” — Wes Watson
To overcome insurmountable challenges and strive to become the person you are meant to be, you have to start with discipline. You have to get used to committing to hard things and actually following through on what you say you are going to do. It will build an unbreakable foundation that you can use to 10x every other aspect of your life.
“The only thing that gives you confidence is the work you put in. Your self-worth is directly correlated to your self-investment.” — Wes Watson
The Power of Self-Talk
What you say to yourself matters, especially in those dark times when we doubt our ability to succeed. When you are struggling to be disciplined and stick to your daily process, engage in positive self-talk to help bolster your self-image and motivate yourself to keep going.
“Nobody can f*ing eat like me.
No one can suffer like me.
No one will take pride in the sacrifice like me.
I was creating that machine from within, just taking pride and pleasure in my ability to not be pleased — all while existing in the most negative place on earth.” — Wes Watson
The common denominator of all successful people is their ability to do whatever it takes every single day to get them where they want to go. That’s it. That’s the secret to success and the way an inmate incarcerated for 10 years is now a multi-million dollar coach and Instagram influencer.
He is simply more disciplined, more committed, and willing to do the things no one else is willing to do. If you make a habit of doing the extra work, sticking to your list of process goals, and not settling for what is most convenient, then you can achieve similar success.
“When we habitually construct habits, we completely rewire our subconscious. When we rewire our subconscious, we get rid of what’s plaguing everyone out here.” — Wes Watson
