How About Reading, Writing, & Creating as a Team Sport?
Opening the Copper Door to Future Celebration

So how does one make all this Storyspinning fun? How, in the best and worst of times do we celebrate our adventure without trivializing — or outright ignoring — the important work at hand?
We are at an epic Crossroads in the Visible World and we need to bring all of our Inspiration, Imagination, and Heart to build this bigger bridge connecting the Invisible and Visible World.
We need to turn and face our Dragons to bring more invisible energy into the Visible World.
And it has to be fun.
Coming to the Campfire
This has always been a problem for all of the Mes; Past, Present, and Future. I love the work and the creating and have a tough time stopping at the end of the day to come to the campfire and engage in the important rest and recovery. I am up until the witching hour, and then up again at 6am.
Part of the problem is that the stars at night, especially in winter, are so bright. And witnessing the gathering light gently nudge away the darkness before dawn is one of life’s great wonders.
So it isn’t that I am not marking time, and celebrating. I certainly am. And yet there needs to be a little more shared joy in Mudville (vintage Casey at Bat sports metaphor, who knew I had one?)
Hey, wait a minute. Yes, sports. The ultimate entertainment, both as a participant and spectator. Let me look up the exact definition.
Sport /spôrt/ noun: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
Aha! I think I already mentioned that Storyspinning is a game. But perhaps even more engaging, this could become a sport. The sport of Storyspinning: played through the games of reading, writing, and creating. In competition against ourselves and each other for the sheer joy and entertainment of it.
Wait, one more definition.
game /ɡām/ noun: a form of play or sport, especially a competitive one played according to rules and decided by skill, strength, or luck.
Well. As usual, I often find that I have all the pieces I need — we all do — we just need to notice how they are connecting and that usually means a Wizard-like change of perspective. We experience so much on a daily basis that we begin to take up that shorthand that assumes we are awake to all the meaning that a Name brings.
Naming is the Wizard magic of focusing energy into a particular form and it can also limit our full experience of a person, place, or thing. So it's important to name and rename to keep the magic and mystery of the Named alive and well. Which is something Future Me and Future You are especially excellent at.
A Secret League of Reader-Writer-Creators
I need Celebration to end my days, weeks, months, seasons. You do as well. Perhaps you have this part of life more dialed in than I do, I can’t say for sure, but I do know that I am seeking meaningful celebration, rest, and recovery for myself so that I enjoy the journey.
And my sports metaphor (thank you, subconscious mind) illuminates the path.
Tallying up my score at the end of the day, and discovering my place on the Leader Boards could provide both celebration and completion. And it would be great to happen in the company of others.
Points for reading. Points for writing. Points for creating. Points for collaborating.
Reader Leader. Writer Leader. Creator Leader. Co-Leader. Future Leader. Kindness Leader. Mindfulness Leader. Happiness Leader. Love Leader. Fitness Leader.
