How A True Failure Can Change Your Life

A true story representing the failure, the struggle of a XIth Standard Student, and his journey towards the goal.

It was the year 1999, April afternoon, I was in Standard XI. Reports cards were being shown to the parents.

Both my parents were with me, and I was very confident about my performance. Entering the corridors of school premises, I was happily moving ahead.

Reaching the open area where the class teacher was talking to the parents, I waited for my turn. The next was my turn, and I anxiously waited for that.

Both parents were just watching what the class the teacher was explaining to other parents.

Mrs. Anita Singh, my class teacher cum Economic teacher, was distributing the scorecards to students with a pleasant smile and sharing her remarks.

Now came my turn, and the report card was in my hands.

I was stunned and shocked! 😲

I failed in mathematics final examination of class XI.

I looked at my parents, and they looked at me.

This was unexpected, as I never failed in any examination during my studies in my life. The parents were really shocked.

My heart nearly stopped for a moment. The whole world came to a standstill.

She said — “ Ashish scored well in all subjects except mathematics.” “Ashish ne sab subjects mai accha kiya hai… sivaaye maths ke.”

Mrs. Anita Said, “as it was one subject, we are promoting him to the next standard, but he really needs to work hard to pass mathematics in standard XII.” “Kyuki ye sirf ek subject ki baat hai, isliye ham isko 12th standard mai promote kar rahe hai”.

Finally, I am at least promoted… Ahhhh…

Let us move home now.

I came back home, and I was really upset that day. Mathematics was the optional subject with the Commerce stream, which I intentionally took.

The only support that day was that along with me, my friend also failed in that exam. Friend of the same misery.

So in the evening, there was a wreck story and someone to laugh with too.

My friend and I both sat together and asked each other.

“Boss, what shall we do now? We have only one option now, “ either leave mathematics in Class 12th or work such real hard that we make a story out of it.” “Kya kehta hai.”

He looked into my eyes 👀 and said, “we took mathematics with a choice. Now we need to prove it right.

I felt if he has such confidence, then what’s the problem.

That day I felt his commitment, and even my commitment grew more energetic. Friends of a common goal (mathematics)

Since then, Just after the opening of the new session of Standard XII, we both were found doing mathematics.

We began searching for a tutor, and luckily, we got one who used to teach us mathematics like play.

Be it Business Studies period or Accountancy–We were doing mathematics. 📉

Let it be recess — I was doing mathematics with him.

Even if it was free to lecture, we were doing mathematics.

Fellow students gave a name to us “ Karan Arjun.”

Now mathematics each day was becoming more of a passion and obsession.

We became obsessed with mathematics. Now mathematics became his and my priority of the day.

Now came the Final D Day — March 2000, I sat for the examination. This time confident, passionate, and obsessed.

Results came. 📝

I did not fail but scored 80 in Mathematics.

An incident changed my life. A lesson well learned.

“Convert your emotions into actions and win the race.”

Sometimes a problem can give you the direction. People are searching for goals. Pick your issue, and it may become a goal.

Since then, this story keeps motivating me to date.

When a failure student can score Honours 75+ Marks, then you can Score, pass the exam and get yourself a goal.
