OH! Cr💩P! I’ve Been Busted Speeding! ðŸ˜
Why It’s Not the End of the World and How to Make the Best of It!
Let’s be honest. Speeding tickets are a bummer. My first ever arrived like a bad joke a few days ago, charging me with a violation I didn’t recall. Apparently I was driving over 30mph at a swift 38 and I was flashed by a camera. I don’t even remember driving through it. Not good!
I thought back, and the guilt crept in when I realised where the camera was. I’m guilty, and I wasn’t paying attention. I’ve stopped panicking now. I’m somewhat grateful for this wake-up call. Why? Because sometimes, life throws us lemons to remind us of the simple things, like not putting ourselves and others at risk. Ok, the £110 stings and the choice between points and an awareness course is not very appealing.
I decided to take the driving awareness course instead of the points. It cost me £110, and I think it was worth it. It’s not like I need to learn to read speed zones, but more of an acceptance of my stupidity. In hindsight, my behaviour on the road sucked. I do think I’ve been complacent for a while now, and I do need a bit of a slap. I’m not sure if the course will make me a better driver, but I know I won’t want to have to do it again.
We all make mistakes. But here’s the key, we learn from them. Believe me, this ticket has me rethinking my automatic mode on the road. It’s a reminder to slow down, be present, and appreciate the journey, not just the destination.
Life Is Not A Race
What’s the moral of the story?
Don’t be too hard on yourself (believe me, I tried). Accept the consequences, learn the lesson, and most importantly, keep moving forward. Because hey, a speeding ticket might sting, but it’s a small price to pay for a valuable reminder. Life is precious, and the road is shared with precious people who deserve better than a daydreaming Lunar drifting by.
Please drive safe friends. Don’t be like I was, it’s too easy to zone out, or pick up bad habits over time.
