Police officers are stuck with an unenviable reputation for being rude, arrogant and insensitive. Stereotyping of the police does injustice to good cops who are polite and kind.

A tough exterior is deceptive because it often hides a soft and sensitive mind.

I recently read a news report about a police officer helping a mother duck and her babies cross a busy highway:

Please read this story of a kind policeman who showed extreme compassion to an injured dog and saved its life after being alerted by a kind motorist.

Kaye Fiorello was driving to work along Interstate 75 near Cleveland when she noticed state trooper Tudors. She did not want a ticket, so she immediately checked her speed.

Suddenly, she noticed a tired puppy lying near the Exit 20 sign in a ditch. It was a hot day, and the dog was panting helplessly.

Fiorello decided to seek the help of state trooper Tudors despite apprehensions about getting a traffic ticket.

She turned around and drove back. She saw Tudors' car and approached him for help. She tapped on the car's window. The cop asked her what the problem was. She told him about the injured dog.

Together, they went to the spot where the dog was lying. Tudors immediately converted his water jug into a bowl and offered water to the injured dog. According to Fiorello,

“The dog was scared of him but frozen in weakness. She sniffed the water, then realized this kindness was for her! She drank that water down in minutes!”

Tudors promised to wait and take the dog to a vet when she started trusting him. He pulled out a chair and placed an umbrella over her to shield her from the extreme heat. He also fed her treats.

Fiorello left after being convinced that Tudors would keep his word. Her Facebook updates revealed Tudors took the dog, who she named 'Princess", to the vet.

The vet discovered that Princess had a broken pelvis. They set up an Angel Fund to pay for the vet expenses as Tudors could not accept donations as a public servant.

A lot of people responded when the dog's carers invited adoption applications.

The carers chose Tudors as the best person to give a new life to Princess.

Princess entered the Tudors' home as another member. She is recovering slowly.

Fiorello thinks the Universe played a role in the miraculous rescue of Princess: She wrote:

“I believe his being there at the right time was one of those little messages reminding us of the good in our world.”

According to her, Trooper Tudors was "one of the good guys for sure."

Final thoughts

Saving the life of an injured and helpless animal is one of the noblest acts possible. Whoever keeps the Universe's karmic account will bless the trooper Tudors and Fiorello with good things in their lives.

Thanks for reading this story.
