How A Free Writing Course Will Help You Become A Better Writer
And sometimes you might want to pay for them too
Some of the most important things I have learned about writing have come from free writing courses. They have helped me create content on different platforms, email marketing, and learn how to set up a blog.
I have also paid for writing courses too. These have been helpful, but you are paying for the convenience of all the information in one place. This I have appreciated, but a lot of online paid content is free. You have to find it.
That’s why I always suggest free writing courses. They are great ways to learn something new, you don’t have to pay for them, and they help you connect with other writers.
How does a free writing course benefit you?
First off, if you are a beginner or don’t have much of a budget for your writing education, free writing courses are free. There is no pain in getting into one of these, and if it doesn’t turn out very well, you don’t lose anything.
Second, they tend to offer excellent information in one place. This saves you from searching for hours on end for different things you want to learn about writing. They are also great for helping you learn something you didn’t know you needed to know.
Third, what you learn from these courses builds up over time. Often, these courses are for one particular part of writing. As you build up the things you know, you become a better writer learning different details of your craft.
How do you find free writing courses?
I know what you are thinking. How do you find these fantastic free courses? After all, if you Google “free writing courses,” you will get many things that aren’t free. And some of them look very poor in value anyway.
Here’s your answer: “Follow some of the best writers, and they will offer free writing courses.”
I have found that top writers offer free email courses about writing. You sign up for their email list, and you get a free email drip course that gives you insights into writing.
These free writing courses that you get by email offer incredible value. You can save the content in your inbox or copy it over to a Google Doc and keep it for your reference. And, many times, they will have other resources available.
How can you get started?
Alright, we know the benefits and where to find them, but how do you get started? To help you get started, I have two courses that I have signed up for that have helped me out a lot.
Now, I am not getting anything for sharing any of these. These are some of the best courses I have taken, and they have helped me out a great deal, so I wanted to share them with you.
- Tom Kuegler’s Free 5-Day Medium Course. The sign-up form is literally at the top of his blog page, and there are a lot of great tips and ideas for writing on Medium that applies to any platform.
- August Birch’s Tribe 1K Course. This email course helps you build your email list. There is a lot of great information here, and it has helped me grow my email list and become a better writer.
These two free writing courses are perfect for starting out or if you want a refresher on writing online or growing your email list. They also point you toward other great resources you can pay for down the road.
Final Thoughts on Free Writing Courses
You will only get better at writing if you are willing to learn. And that means learning from anyone. Sometimes, people want to discourage you from listening to this person or that person because they are gimmicky or taking advantage of a situation.
I honestly don’t think it matters. If you can learn something about writing, then you have the opportunity to get better. It will be up to you to discern whether the information is helpful to you, but it is always worth a try.
