Summary

A cancer survivor reflects on the cyclical nature of life, akin to falling and rising in love, drawing parallels to the seasons and the human condition observed in hospitals.

Abstract

The website content presents a personal essay by a cancer survivor who shares her profound insights on life's perpetual cycle of destruction and reconstruction. Through a short poem titled "FALLING" and "RISING," she metaphorically describes the experience of love and life's transitions, comparing them to the changing seasons and the gravitational pull of life's forces. She notes the paradoxical coexistence of life and death in hospitals, where she spent time waiting during her cancer treatment. The author emphasizes the importance of treasuring life, being in awe of it, and the reciprocal nature of life's appreciation. She concludes by inviting readers to join her on the rollercoaster ride of life and to connect for more real stories and practical wisdom.

How A Cancer Survivor Never Look At Life The Same Again

A short poem

FALLING

In love.

Out of love.

For you.

From the Heavens with gravity.

Leaves in brown autumn.

Apart to rebuild new parts.

“Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up.” — Alfred (in Batman Begins).

RISING

In love.

From love.

With you.

From the Abyss against gravity.

Sun on the horizon.

Together to rebuild new parts.

And so the cycle repeats.

Author’s notes: While Waiting in hospitals during her cancer days, she observed that humans seem to live in a never-ending cycle of destruction and construction.

Hospitals are some of the rare places, where we see life and death all happening at the same time.
