I have seen a lot of tweets recently claiming homosexuality is going to cause the mass extinction of the human race.
So I decided to list my top 4 reasons as to why this will never be a thing!
If every single person on the planet was to turn gay right now, there would still be babies born. Being homosexual does not suddenly make us infertile.

There is this incorrect belief that homosexuality is this man-made act that people choose. People seem to forget homosexual acts have been recorded in nature. This includes; same-sex sexual activity, pair bonding, courtship, affection, and parenting among same-sex animal pairs.
Various forms of this has been found in every major animal group, in every major geographical region.
In 1995, zoologist Konrad Lorenz published a study in which he studied the behaviour of 1,500 animal species. He observed that 450 of these exhibited sexual intercourse, courtship, emotional bonds, partnership and even child-rearing behaviour between homosexual individuals. From primates to intestinal parasites.
This was later confirmed by Dr Nathan Bailey at the University of California, in his study, Trends in Ecology & Evolution, who also found that examples of sexual behaviour between same-sex individuals could be found in all species of the animal kingdom.

Though the behaviours are different for each species, in most cases they did serve an advantageous, evolutionary mechanism. E.g. for dolphins, males use sex to bond with other males and form alliances. In fruit flies and insects in general, homosexuality occurs because of their inability to differentiate between sexes.
Geese are extremely interesting because although they are monogamous (only looking for a new mate once their other has died), in Canada it was reported that they recorded up to 30% of these couples were homosexual. Thus indicating that even nature isn’t pressed about the gays.

The idea that homosexual people can not procreate is incorrect. We can and we do.
Trystan Reese a transgender man, made the news not too long ago after getting pregnant and giving birth. I am sure he is not the only one. A couple of consisting of a bisexual man and woman can also procreate. A couple consisting of two gay men can have a child, though not together. The same goes for lesbian couples.
If every single person on the planet was to turn gay right now, there would still be babies born. Via surrogacy, artificial insemination and — in some cases — having sex (gasp). Being homosexual does not suddenly make us infertile.

You can not catch homosexuality. Watching certain tv shows, reading certain books, wearing certain clothes does not make you gay. It is not something you grow into, you either are or you’re not.
Though debatable, it is estimated that around 10% of the population is homosexual. Therefore the likelihood of the whole population turning gay is non-existant. But even if it did, as I said above, if every single person on the planet was to turn gay right now, there would still be babies born. Being homosexual does not suddenly make us infertile.

As mentioned above, homosexuality predates human beings. Homosexual individuals have also been around since the beginning of humanity, yet we still have 7.5 billion people on the planet. Therefore, it should be obvious that homosexuality isn’t going to cause the mass extinction of the human race because it would have already happened and not only to us, the animal kingdom would have been wiped clean too.
But it has not.
LGBTQ+ individuals have been fighting for their rights for decades, rights that include being able to reproduce and adopt children. Therefore it should be evident that there is no gay agenda to wipe out humanity. Whether aided by scientific advancements or achieved through sex (gasp), gay people can and do have children.
The fact that in insects homosexuality occurs because of their inability to differentiate between sexes should be an indicator that mother nature is in no rush nor worry about mass extinction — it would have already happened.
The real threat to humanity is climate change, antibiotic resistance, nuclear war etc.
I believe it is time to get our priorities straight.
