Homeward Bound, Is Me
#ThemeOfTheWeek

Within the neighbourhood of Medium, ‘home’ is on everyone’s mind The current pandemic leaving us so weary It has pulled us beyond thinking about what was, To what will be
What does ‘Home’ mean? Been asking myself that question, My hometown some 35 years ago and 12,000 kms away
Hometown is now an empty seashell The memories still echo if I listen closely But it is no longer home
Wherever mom is, That’s been the true home to me But soon she too will be an empty shell And I will listen to a crescendo of memories
Travel takes me home To places I’ve never been And to homes of old To revisit family But those homes are temporary
Home is where I am and want to be Close to my love My closest family My closest friends
Home is wherever I can breathe and be me
