Homemade Low FODMAP Garlic Oil
An easy recipe for homemade infused garlic oil!

Recently my girlfriend was advised to try eating low FODMAP to help with bloating and digestive discomfort. If you’re not on the low FODMAP diet and you have no clue what FODMAP’s even are, click here because it’s a whole world of research.
I love Fody Foods and everything they provide to make life easier for those who are on the low FODMAP diet. However, the garlic-infused olive oil is a little pricey for my grocery budget.
Luckily, you can find good prices on large amounts of olive oil from the grocery store and even Amazon.
And infusing your own oil is incredibly easy.
All you need is olive oil (or your choice of a neutral oil), garlic, a cutting board, a knife, and a pot.
The general rule of thumb is about 4 cloves of garlic per 1/2cup of oil. However, I always eyeball it.

- First, prep your garlic by smashing it with your knife and then peeling it. Smashing the garlic is what’s going to help it to easily infuse the oil.
- Then, pour your oil into the pot and toss the garlic in. Place your pot on medium-high. The garlic will start to fry and this is exactly what you want.
- Once the garlic is nice and golden brown, turn the heat off and let it cool to room temp.
- Remove the garlic with a slotted spoon, then, take the extra step to pour your oil into your container through a fine-mesh sieve.
Garlic is a high FODMAP food and you want to make sure none of the tiny pieces floating around get into the container.
And voila! Garlic infused olive oil ready to use. It adds that garlic flavor we all miss from our pre-low FODMAP lives and if you love garlic like me, your house will smell amazing as well.
Your homemade oil should be used in 5–7 days.
