Home of the Mystic

A poem inspired by Rumi in honour of Ramadan

Photo by Birmingham Museums Trust on Unsplash

your heart, a jewel, in the home of your being, what strangers do you let near it?

the gates that guard, the doors that welcome, what strangers do you let enter it?

the chimneys that exhale, and the windows that purge the air of all its sorrows, what strangers do you let leave it?

beware —

for the strangers that come bring poison, and the strangers that go leave gifts.

If you enjoy my work, I’d love a tip of appreciation from you! Thank you ♡
