The child is a “Swiftie”.
Her 12th birthday was celebrated with this concert experience.
Any city that hosts a Taylor Swift concert reaps fabulous economic rewards.
I live on a rock in Jamaica. Far away from celebrity hype and news.
I innocently said, “Taylor Swift? Gosh she doesn’t look all that.”
I was vehemently corrected by a long list of her attributes including her re-marketing of songs she had written and lost rights to years back.
Boy, was I wrong!!!!!
Looking into what I now believe is a Tsunami of marketing opportunities for Kansas City,
The woman is a genius. A money magnet.
Kansas City’s economic infusion
Kansas City’s economy was infused with $185 to $200 million in two days after her tour.
Tickets prices average $1200 plus.
Swifties during this weekend spent $1,300 to $1,500 in meals and merchandise. Hard to know what she raked in in royalties from merch. Internet sales no doubt contributed.
The show brought her $88.8 million.
I fell prey to her lipstick liner and gloss.
Doesn’t have her name on it but…it’s her look.
The spell is strong. Falling in love with her deep red lips cheering the new love of her life from his private viewing box. Surrounded by her friends and Travis’ Mum. Television cameras pan back and forth from a Kelse play to the observation box.
It is joyous fun to watch adding to the already broad appeal of Patrick Mahomes’ powerful team leadership. Patrick and his wife are strong supporters in our Kansas City community.
Repeat sightings now
Fall of 2023, Taylor and Travis Kelse, Kansas City Chief’s tight end unveiled their high profile relationship.
They had been quietly getting to know each other away from their big media personalities. Out of the Paparazzi’s lens.
They are quite the posing couple now. Basking in their fan’s adoring eyes.
Every time she visits Kansas City the world is atwitter.
They are a fun couple to keep track of, their every movement is on watch.
Kansas City and the world love to see two happy people enjoying life.
Taylor bought a mansion in a gated Kansas City community. They wanted something more private than Travis’ First Light condo in downtown KC.
Restaurants they eat at are flooded later with reservations.
Travis/Taylor merchandise flys off shelves.
Taylor-gating packaged donuts sell in the tens of thousands.
Many companies find ways to tag into the Taylor/Travis spell.
It is a marketing free for all working to put Kansas City in the world’s eye.
Whether it’s a restaurant booking a heap of reservations to share the vibe, Kentucky Fried Chicken’s new Taylor inspired sauce, Ketchup like Ranch, versions of the skirts she wears or a vintage store Chief’s Sweat Shirt.
Business is booming. A marketing rocket ship.
Heck of an investment
Steve Knopper of billboard.com reported on December 17, 2023, the following from Kansas City Mayor Quentin Lucas:
“…For almost no municipal investment we’re getting a heck of an investment…Great for our economy. It’s great for our culture. It’ great for letting people know we have this dynamic city…”
Born and bred in Kansas City I must say the vibe is strong. I love that our fly-over cow town is on the radar with the Time Magazine person of the year.
Twelve time Grammie winner, two time Super Bowl champ, idols of fans old and young, thank you for making Kansas City one of your homes.
